Hello Guys
Got a 2008 GMC Yukon and while preparing to installing an oil catch can I found that my 5.3 has a non serviceable pcv valve.
1.How do you check if the pcv is bad? Just by oil consumption?
2. Does the new Valve cover mentioned in the TSB have the same valve or allow you to use a replaceable one?
3. Saw on YouTube someone installed an inline PCV valve should I do this?
Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

The valve cover had a metered hole in it that does the same thing as a PCV valve. There is no real PCV valve and no need to add one.
The updated valve cover is recommended. Are you sure you still have the old style?

Remove the poorly designed vc, install the improved design vc, NO MATTER WHAT.
There is NO serviceable PCV.
The original poorly designed vc on the inside has a ROUND port located between 2 hold down bolts. The improved vc on the inside has a SQUARE port located above the last hold down bolt.
