Hey guys I've been doing a lot of research on this and I'm going to start looking at u pulls for parts but here's my question. On rockauto they have 2 different intakes for a 2008 yukon depending on if I get the 5.3 or 6.0 intake. I have a 2003 yukon denali so do I need to look for a nnbs with a 6.0 or will any motor work? Also what years and models can I get an intake and throttle body from? Sorry if this has been answered before.

From what I understand the stock intake on the NBS 6.0 is more than sufficient unless you're running a big cam or heads. So are you building the entire engine or just swapping the intake?

Everything I've read said it was good for 20 hp. It's a stock plain Jane 6.0. I have a leaking intake gasket and I get get an intake and throttle body from a nnbs intake for free. I would only have to purchase an x link. Do you guys think I will notice any improvement or are these intake swaps meant for built motors?

I'm hoping to hear someone with more knowledge than me chime in also. Since seeing this post I've done a lot of reading up on this and I see there is conflicting information. Some say there is anywhere from 10-30 hp gain, others say there isn't much at all. Some say it depends on what you start with (5.3, 6.0, 99-02, 03-06, etc.) and then there's the fact that a lot of them had a tune done for the first time, which already adds that much hp. Also I see there was a lot of problems initially, mainly with the X-link but also the different TB's that were being used. @ezdaar where are you?

Too Red Rockets point on the X link...when I upgraded my 6.0 to a 6.7 I also went with a ported TB from a c6 Z06 and had to use the X link adaptor. I am on my 2nd X link so far (around 10k total on the build) as the first one was throwing some reduce power codes. I think eventually the heat in the engine bay effects the X link adaptor. So far I have some wire insulation on the 2nd one and so far no issues. Either way it could cause you additional problems - just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the heads up. I can get the intake and throttle body for free from a buddy I'm curious if it's an upgrade or not for a stock 6.0. If not i might just keep it stock I just read online for the 5.3 it was a decent upgrade. If it'll add some ponies and help with the high altitude in Denver I'll do it. If not i guess I'll stay stock.

Also if it is an upgrade to the nbs 6.0 RockAuto lists a different intake for the 5.3 and the 6.0 nnbs. Does it matter if I get an nnbs 5.3 or 6.0 intake will either work? Or do I need a 6.0 nnbs intake for my nbs 6.0 denali?

The intake manifold is an upgrade. I have read about occasional failures with the xlink.

from the link already posted in this thread:

u have some options here. to run your stock 76mm TB, u will need to buy an adapter plate. thats the cheapest route. if youre like me and cant justify a big ass expensive intake and keeping a stock TB, get u a 90mm LS7 TB or run an nnbs TB. for you to be able to run a different throttle body (the LS7 or nnbs TB) u will need to purchase a DR X harness from torquerushperformance.com. its ~$240 and looks like this

So for my 6.0 do I need an 07+ 5.3 or 6.0 intake or does it not matter?

Some miss info here.
Yes the nnbs intake is a upgrade similar to the trailblazer ss intake. Yes there good for about 20 hp and more if you have a power adder or supporting mods. That's pretty good Bolton. Injector rails needs to be custom on crossover or return systems. I would stick drive by cable with big throttle body. Be sure you have a intake that matches your cathedral heads. 6.0 nnbs has square heads. 5.3 is cathedral but same size intakes..

I sold my 6.2 heads and intake. Going with a custom blower intake.
