New tahoe owner

Just wanted to introduce myself, i figure i will be spending lots of time here soon.
Im in the process of buying a 1999 4 door z71. If all goes well i should be a official tahoe owner on tuesday.
I've got a 1 owner 138k miles in my sights all thats left to do is have it checked out.
I dont know much about cars but im hoping to get into being my own mechanic to an extent with this rig.

I pulled the carfax and everything is clean. It's been in a town about a hour away from me it's whole life and searviced at a chevy delership. Im taking it to that same delership for the inspection. Since i dont know any mechanics in that area.

Kevan, welcome to the forum from Georgia Dawg country, and glad to have you. Congratulation on your 99 Z 71 find, they are very few good ones left. Be sure to post some pics when possible.
My 99 has been garaged since new and it's still in great condition with 202k miles. Good luck to you.

I talked to the dealership that it was searviced at several times in the past and they said legally they cant give me any searvice records.

Maybe after you buy it, or with the owner's consent. I just obtained the service records for mine from a dealer and had to show them that I am the owner so I sent over a copy of my driver's license and title and they sent me the records.

I'm not buying it from the owner. they traded it in 6 months ago and it ended up at a local used lot.

once you have it registered in your name you can ask for all records at the local dealer. just hand them the registration card, the vin should be on there.

It must be registered to the owner of the corner lot its at. So they should be able to get the records?

Well it failed miserably at inspection. I was going to have a engine compression test done and they said dont even bother. To make a long story short. Oh well the search continues

Yep that inspection might be the best $100 i've ever spent.
Moving on im going to check out a rare 2000 z71 next week. Fingers crossed
