Thats cool how you mounted it like that. Thanks for the pics man, so you didnt use a distributor block on your battery? If I have the knobs like yours I wont have to buy one?

since your battery has the top posts on it, you can do the same as me and go to autozone and spend 3 bucks for the top post connector thing. i have my Hids, electric fans and such hooked up to the top ones. I think the hid and fan wires look corny, but itll do for now until i get better looks distributors

Well here's a box I'm making for my friend, but I might keep it and just get 2 subs instead of 3 if I like it. This is the first box I've made, but it came out pretty good. I used that RE box calculator for the diminsions of the box and cut it up with my dads table saw. Its still under construction, cause I just did it today. I gotta glue, caulk, and cut the sub holes still, but here it is... what you guys think?

**There is another piece that splits the ports that isnt shown

Unfortunately, even though you may have the proper cross-sectional area for the port, it looks like it's too much of a "slot". Where it looks like you may have about 2" by 14" for the port, you'll get a lot of port noise - ideally, something like 4" by 7" would be better, AND you've got some sharp 90 degree angles in there. Without some 45 degree bends and/or curves in there, you're going to have a LOT of turbulence if you use any kind of subs with a long excursion and lots of power.

I was going to put angles on the corners, and what does port noise sound like?
**edit, you were pretty close its actually 1.5 x 14, so if I made it 7 by 3 it would stop the box from producing port noise?

Just installed my friends system, and its real loud! He got 2 12" CVXs for christmas and this BOSS audio amp DD3600 i think. The box I made sounds pretty good, and I'll post up a video after I get off work. He's at 1500 watts RMS with the subs, and I don't know how to set up an amplifier correctly so hes getting that done right now. So tonight I'll have a video of him bumpin. Now I can finally start doing stuff for mine!

ahhh i hate sound system videos. its not like you can hear how hard it hits with computer speakers and a video camera to pick up the noise. its only good for making shit hop on your roof. lol

Complete change in plans....

Well I decided to just go with a completely different set up, 1 18" Fi BTL $480 shipped, 1 Hifonics 2010D Amp $255 shipped, Rockford 0 gauge kit $98 shipped, and building my own box. Im getting 250 for the old setup, so only about 600 total from my pocket.

My old plan got messed up, and I was helping my friend with his stuff but his is done, and heres a completed picture with the box freshly painted..

Anyways, the Amp and wires are in the mail, the box is next, then the BTL.

Sorry for the way premature post... :emotions122:

Look'n good... Sounds like you know how to build boxes, it's not hard to do just time consuming... I'll be building one for my 2dr soon, still playing on paper for now....

I can't wait to see the sub in... But in ref to the second battery, I definitely recommend that especially if your ruuning high watts and a cap on top would help, upgraded alternator + the batt & cap would be the best... But that also depends on ur budget...

I want to know what SPL you hit with that 18.... Should be at least 140 db's or more if you have it set up right with the air space in the box plus the right amount of power to them, ported boxes always need more power than sealed.... I've been around the stereo business for years and thats what i've learned.

stop teasing us and get that damn BTL HAHAHAHAHA

^^ i have also been competing for years in spl comp's and audio design, and trust me, i have seen sealed boxes running 15,000 watts. (this guys posting) and destroying ported boxes running the same.

all in all it looks like your on your way to a good daily pounder, keep it up, i would for sure say get a 2nd battery and better alternator. caps are useless when it comes to an 18"b tl :p

Thanks for all the feedback guys, yeah my budget cant quite afford the ** alt yet, but I was seeing how some ppl had there setups on stock alts with dual batteries wired a certain way to keep them both chargered fine, and I wanted to do something like that at first. Then, after I save some more mula up, get the ** alt. But have I heard coorect about being able to run 2 batteries of a stock alternator safely? Thanks again guys I'll keep you posted.

Let us know how that Fi BTL is. I've thought about buying 2 15" Fi SSD's since my 3 Kickers are blown but they are just so damn expensive. Hopefully the price eventually goes down.

I will do. I would have ordered it already but the bank closed early yesterday, due to weather. I'm sure theyre closed today too, but hopefully they'll open up on monday... Im getting really impatient lol.

Also I did some more research on dual battery setups, so I need to hook them up parallel, and they need to be the same brand/size/age batteries. This should work out with a stock alternator if I dont leave the system going with the engine off. If someone could confirm this for me it'd be great! Also, I have NO idea what kind of batteries I need to get, so any good suggestions on specific batteries would help out too! I'm getting 2 new ones I guess, because you shouldnt use different aged batteries. Thanks

Same brand/size/age? No way! I'm not sure where you read that but im pretty positive that's false. I have a optima yellowtop under the hood and a xs power 2400w powercell batt in the back. Different size, brand, and probably different age. Been running my system for 2-3 weeks and no problems. :)
