New Shocks and Shoes

Recently picked up a 2015 Tahoe LTX with 82K, and noticed it rode like a tricycle. After finding this site, learned of the issues with the Magnaride suspension. Driving this thing was painful. The tires needed to be replaced, so opted for a set of Michelins. Ride really didn't improve, so i went under the the truck and took a pic of the shock part #s, which came back to some cheap after market shocks. Ordered 4 new GM shocks from Rock Auto for $407 ea. and had them installed. Much, better ride now. Also installed a pedal commander, which improved the performance feel. Pleasure to drive now. Next is to look into the occational click in the steering wheel, which is very intermittent, and only at slow speeds with little wheel movement.

No, i looked them up, the part number came back to TRQ shock.

Good choice going back to the OEM suspension, IMO. I had the same situation when I purchased my new-to-me 2007 Yukon XL Denali, and converting back to the OEM suspension was a great improvement.

If you want even further improvement in handling, get yourself a pair of Hellwig sway bars, and completely eliminate any body roll.

Quick update. While the ride is better since the shock change, it still has a rough ride. Small bumps and cracks in the road feel harsh. Is this just the nature of a poor designed suspension, or is there something else i should be looking at. I lowered air pressure, but not sure how low i can go. No suspension lights or warning. Just looking for a little guidence before i give up and sell it. Hard to believe GM would put out a vehicle that rides this bad. Thanks in advance.

Maybe you have a defective new shock, it wouldn’t be the first time a new part was bad.

Omg....we sound just the same. I just replaced all 4 of mine this week and I still think it rides rough af. Every saw mark in the road and every little divot or pothole. I am a grown man who feels defeated and wants to cry lol. Seriously though it was such a let down. I had a shop with a scanner activate the shocks to make sure they were working and my air compressor also works for the rear leveling. If i cant get it fixed I'm going back to a Lincoln.
