New rebuilt engine is shot! Time for a 6.0

Ok guys, this is whats going on, i'm now getting water in my oil, checked the oil earlier and it look's like a (Thank you Castech head) chocolate milkshake! Tired of messing with the damn rebuilt motor, the engine builder finally gave me a refund of the price of the rebuild. (2160.00) I need to know which 6.0 I need that will be a direct fit for my tahoe, I will be buying one at Auto Zone with a 3 year unlimited mile warranty. I know I have to have the computer retuned, I already called Tick performance they said they will do a dyno tune for 300.00, they specialize in LS engines. i'm not sure about my 4l60, it's a brand new crate tranny and I want to keep it, i've heard some say it will bolt right up and i've also heard I have to get a adapter. I'm on a limited budget right now, so the cheaper the better.

Im swapping an LQ9 to my trans, whats the # on the engine your getting? I had the same issues with my 04 and castec heads. Yay us!

I believe, not 100% but you need the adapter for 2k models.
Hit performance trucks they will tell you for certain.

While everything is out, toss in a vette and billet od servo, aswell as a shift kit. Your trans will last abit longer.

I was just looking on autozone website not sure what the numbers were, I just looked up a 2001 2500HD.

From what I have seen, my 2000 is the same as the 2001's. Is this what you are talking about?

The 6.0's weren't mated to a 60 they were mated to an 80.

ok, were is a good place to buy one? btw my tahoe is a 2wd, don't know if that makes any difference with the adapter.

1996-2002 GEN I+ versions of the Small Block Chevrolet used the same bellhousing while the LSx engines used a longer bellhousing to accommodate a redesigned torque converter with a longer pilot nose (GM sells an adapter assembly for using the LSx 4L60-Es when used with an early powerplant).

Found a good deal, GM Performance 5.3, 325hp/345 torque for 1500.00 with 30k miles and a one year warranty. Calling next week to pay for it and have it delivered to my local garage to have it put in.

Good! Stay away from any big box auto part store rebuilt motors...... nothing but trouble and mismatched parts, heads, and shoddy workmanship.

Not true. They are pretty good motors and backed by warranty in most all cases. Reman is always better than used if I'm doing the swap.

I also checked out Auto Zones remans, the only one that had very good ratings with the BBB, and other online sites were TriStar engines, they offer a 3 Year Unlimited mileage warranty, I can get one for around 2500.00, the reason im going with the low mileage used motor it's already broke in, and it has nearly 50 more horses than a stock engine. Plus it has a one year warranty on it also.
