New Head Unit

I am definitely getting a new one because, as everyone already knows, the stock ones are trash. At first I was lokkng at a DD--- from kenwood but i just don't want to drop $700~ on it. I looking for a new head unit that provides good sound without spending a lot of money... Anyone have suggestions?

I have the pioneer avh-4100 and i like it, dont have much to compare to. The ipod controls are sick and the price is good, even from crutchfield.
