$50 is worth it, kinda think it should be free since a trailblazer is the same damn trans just a different converter. Should run good once it's rebuilt

I agree 100% but he said since they couldn't swap the Tahoe core for the TB core due to the different stall rate it would be extra, basically it was the core exchange was for the same stall rate TC only blah....blah...blah... it was too early to argue and since I didn't even really know what the difference was so I could call him out on his BS I just said, do it.....

Thnx for all the info Max...... and everyone else......it helped.

yea, you'll like the stall, will feel weird at first, until you do a fast run from a stoplight, and feel the acceleration come on faster :D

ive read some guys say use the TBSS converter and other say TB. which one is it? and im guessing they hold up well when towing? will they handle bolt ons and a tune without fear of blowing it up?

Getter's build is pretty much what i want when its time.

I posted this a while back, see if any fit?

4l60e Transmission - Common Failures

BOSS

That's good stuff.... Quite a few fit but the best fit
was broken sprag. I had no movement in D but could shift 1-2-3-R and slip it into 4th on the highway by puttin it in D. It actually started holding gear in D this morning on my way to the shop and the guy said the sprag probably found a place to catch for a while. The bang was so loud the first time it went out of gear I thought someghing literally blew up in there. It might have held out for a while but with my luck it would of stranded me on my way to pick up my baby girl from school and that would not be good......It's not great timing but at least I'll have a new and improved tranny for another 115k....

It's all about being prepared....now you're ready to charge it :)

Well, just got'er home and I have to say you can tell the difference. Not that it's major but certainly feels more solid especially after driving on the old one. It was the sprag, it was going and it rolled and then rolled again enough to catch gear but it was wasted. That TB Converter must really do something because I can chirp the tires from a dead stop by flooring it and it certainly did not do that before. I could get a good squeal from a stop if I was turning but never from a stop going straight..... not too shabby.... certainly would have spent the $1200 elsewhere but I'll be running strong for a good while and I got the "big one" out of the way being that the tranny seems to be a common issue on these vehicles and on the spendy side......

I'm glad everything worked out for you bud, did you notice the difference with the new stall?

Thnx man. It's a little different at the pedal during normal driving but like I mentioned in the last post it chirps the tires real nice off the line now where it never did before, I probably get'em a fifth of the way around before they hook up if I floor it from a dead stop.

Looks like you decided already, but I would have went 80e without even blinking an eye. That is my next step, is the 80e as soon as anything flinches on this tranny. Ive been down this road several times, a buiilt tranny will die too... get your warranty. The thing is the 60/65e is really intened as a car tranny. It will always fail with weight behind it! 80e is the only way to have power and weight together. I dont care what I got to do, but I know a 80e is going in my truck. Its not difficult swap at all on the GMT400 platform, but these GMT800 should not be more different. I looked at my crossmember, and maybe some holes just be drilled, and correct shaft.

Yes, I thought about the 80e but it's not a straight swap and would have taken time and money I don't have. I needed to be on the road ASAP, I have a 2yr old to get to and from school and a business to run so it got ruled our pretty quick. It takes a bit of modification to do the 80e, talked to the guy about it, it's nothing major just a bit of work and that means labor costs I can't afford. If I could do the labor myself I'd do it for sure....

LOL what did you end up getting....I missed that part????

B

Got my 4l60e built to 4l65e spec with the exception of the 5 pinion planetary(didn't have the loot) but I added the TB converter which has a stall rate of 2600. So I got the upgraded dual cage sprag, drum reinforcement sleeve, beast sun shell, z-pack, vette servo(already had), and the master rebuild kit that upgraded the plastic pistons to metal and the 13 vane jammy I think along with the normal rebuild kit stuff, with the RP it ran me $1200 out the door and I had it back in 30hrs. With a 12mo/12Kmi warranty
