7/14/17. With surf city right around the corner I took the Tahoe down to have it detailed for the show. I do not have patience with buffing and waxing a vehicle so I will gladly pay someone to do it. Came out looking great. Also took the bullet inserts out of the grille.

7/28/17. Had a friend inform me that his car was broken down 30 miles north at his work. All he said was it started smoking and quit running. Free if I hauled it away so I grabbed my dads flat bed and went to pick it up. Quickly found a hole in the front of the block. Got lucky though it started and I still was able to drive it onto the trailer. I definitely found my limit on how much I felt comfortable towing with the Tahoe it wasn’t the happiest but 60 mile trip without issues I can’t complain. Worth it for a free car though.

8/23/17. Surf city is 3 days away. Got a lead on a set of door speaker pods for 2 6.5s per door. At this point my subs were overpowering my single set of speakers in the front. Grabbed another set of focals and got everything mounted after work that week. Focal decided the crossovers needed to be huge and being on a time crunch I just double side taped them to the door to get me through the weekend.

Only thing I didn’t like is that the grilles for those speakers were flimsy and very easy to dent in. Of course the pods made the speakers right at knee level for getting in and out which scared me. Luckily to this day no one has put their knee through a door speaker yet.

8/25/17 surf city sound off 2017 is finally here. Of course I noticed my tire was low that morning so I went and got it fixed before I left for the weekend. Decided to stay the whole weekend at the casino on the coast where the event is head every year. Was a great weekend and great show. Took first again and decided time to change things up so I sold my ampere 5k in search of more power.

9/1/17 new amp finally came in. Gave a full bridge Brazilian board a shot with this soundigital 8k 1ohm model. Being full bridge meant I couldn’t wire my subs down to .35 ohm like I previously had them with the ampere 5k. Wired them up to 1.4 and began understanding how much impedance rise can effect output. Not being wired so low allowed me to play longer without the amp heating up though so that was a plus. Pulled the amp rack and threw some black vinyl on it then painted the sides black so it wasn’t just bare mdf. Will say I do love the small footprints on these Brazilian Board amps.

9/9/17 Finally started on that civic I picked up for free. Not only did the engine have a hole in the block but the interior and exterior were trashed. Picked up a new motor for 300 and spend a day or two deep cleaning it. Found some cheap hx aluminum wheels as well. Got it running and driving after having to swap out the trans With the new engine from some gnarly input shaft noise. Ended up selling it for 1300 not long after which finally pushed me to buying some stuff for the Tahoe

9/23/17 new wheels came in finally! 20x12 hostile sprockets with 305/55r20 mastercraft courser mxts. Made it look like a whole different rig and I loved it. Had to cut about a inch off the front bumper, and do a full NorCal mod to the inner fender for clearance since I was only leveled.

10/6/17. I am not a fan of the squatted look in any way shape or form. May have noticed the back was sagging a little and it became much more noticeable with the new wheel and tire combo. Ordered z71 rear springs and new bilstein shocks to replace the worn out shocks that were on it. Springs gave me another inch Of lift and no more squat :) while swapping everything out I got very lucky though the trans jack I had supporting the rear end decided to give out on me. Spraying hydraulic fluid everywhere. Luckily the rear shocks were mounted so the caught the axle before it could droop to far and ruin a brake line.
