MY22 Tahoe Airbag Restraint system

Hello members,
Fairly new here and wanted to share my experience and see if others may have come across a similar issue. (Tried to do a search on the forum but didn't find anything quite as close to my issue.) I leased a 22 Tahoe LS towards the end of 11/2021. The very next day, saw a number of warning messages on the cluster upon power on and also a distinct burning smell after I parked.

Drove it for about 100 or so miles over the next week at dealer's guidance to see if it "resets". After not clearing itself, I dropped off at the dealer and they found that the overhead console had an electrical issue which also triggered the service airbag system message. the dome lights stopped working as well and its possible the airbags may not deploy.

After multiple calls to CAC and dealer, its still with the dealer. Parts are back logged and no ETA.

Anyone else seen this issue?

I have the same issue on my 2022 Yukon AT4. It has been 2 months that I have been waiting on the part to get it fixed. So basically I have to just drive it around like that as they have no loaners. I contacted GM and opened a case with them about how it was a safety issue, but they didnt care. I've also read on several Facebook groups that other people are having the same issue and have yet to have their's fixed as well.

It is extremely frustrating.

Thanks, glad to hear this is not an isolated issue. You could ask for a rental vehicle (hertz, enterprise) if you haven't considered it. GM is paying for my rental.

Stuck in same boat with my 21. No ETA on parts, have called all around the country, the part we need is nonexistent. I have found a few parts and they won't part with them. Lots of vehicles sidelined because of parts. Gotta be expensive for GM, not to mention 30+ day out of service opens them up to lemon law issues...

My dealership finally spoke with GM and they have agreed to pay for a rental from Enterprise. I did file a complaint with NHTSA as this is a significant safety hazard and GM seems to be in no rush to fix the issue.

Hello! Checking in to see if you have had any resolution to this. I have the same issue. Safety restraint message and nothing in upper console works. Sunroof, lift gate etc. the dealer already replaced my overhead console. Came back in 48 hours. I think it has something to do with the seat wiring but haven’t found anyone mentioning the service safety restraint warning AND the upper console not working. Hope yours has been fixed!

Same exact issue here! Searched on google to see if anyone else was having the same issue! It’s so frustrating! My 2022 Tahoe Z71 was purchased at the end of March and the problems started at the end of April. Been to the dealership for a total of 5 times now and they can’t figure out what is wrong with it. GM has 2 open cases on my Tahoe. They really need to get it together, sucks paying so much for a vehicle to have lights on the dash, no over head lights work and not being able to open the sunroof or having to force the trunk to close.

any update to this thread? I just got a 23 Yukon AT4 and 3 weeks in and airbag light started coming on randomly when driving. Everything else is working fine.

I too cannot open my panoramic sunroof, no over head lighting, button doesn’t work for the hatch, etc. My biggest concern is the safety portion but really annoyed with not being able to open my sunroof. My garage door opener (which I just programmed the day before), still works. I’m a bit agitated, my husband and I spec this vehicle from factory and pay quite a penny for it! There shouldn’t be all these issues! Have anyone here see any resolutions?

That is for 2021’s, but possibly you have an issue w/ the connector. Take it to the dealer as a warranty issue.

2023 Z71 Tahoe with SRS light and non operational sunroof and overhead console. Started at ~4000 miles.

Believe it or not GM fix for now is to press map light, cycle on and off - that resets airbag light and the sunroof and everything works. I asked dealer if GM was F-ing kidding about no solution....

Can't believe they aren't open about the simple (stupid and ridiculous) fix for now.

Not sure if AT4 is the same as the Tahoe overhead console... but fix for my 2023 tahoe from GM is press map light turn on and off to resets SRS code and console works again. I have done it 3 times since getting truck back after 2 days.

My 2023 High Country Tahoe has 1150 miles on it and it got the warning....they replaced the console and I noticed that my parking assist wouldn't turn on. The light wouldn't turn on it would only say parking assist turned off each time I pushed the button?!? I parked it and then went back out at lunch to see if it was turned off in the settings but it worked fine now but the safety restraint service message was back and nothing worked with the overhead console again.....So back to the dealer it went...luckily they provide loaners! But do you think the parking assist could have anything to do with this? Could it be tied into the airbag system somehow?

Just an update on my AT4 since I never posted a resolution -- see previous posts on this thread. I had the whole overhead console replaced in March 2022 on my AT4 and all has been good since then. As for cycling the MAP lights prior to the replacement, I did try that and the dealer did as well, but unfortunately it did not work for my vehicle. I'm actually surprised to hear this is still happening in 2023s.

In regards to the park assist mentioned above, my park assist still worked during the 3 months my overhead console was non-functional, so I don't think they are related but I could be wrong.

I have a 2022 High Country Tahoe and the SRS warning light came on around two weeks ago (21,000 miles). Carried to the dealership yesterday, and the connector on a wiring harness under the driver's seat was bad. Luckily, they had the connector in stock so they cut and spliced the new one. So far, no issues and the warning light has not come on.

Full disclosure: the SRS warning light would come on multiple times on a < 10 minute drive and start before getting out the subdivision. Other times, it may have taken two plus hours to start dinging. Also, I never had any other issues with any other features such as the pano sunroof.
