Different motor mounts, Different transmission as the bellhousings are different depths, different wiring harness and computer, different fuel line setups, different radiator in/out locations, accessories and brackets in different locations. Hell I'm pretty sure the computer you need to run the 97 won't communicate with the dash in the 01, meaning none of the gauges will work. So your best bet would be to find a 4.8/5.3 and put it in.

Skip that engine. It's completely different than your generation of Tahoe. It wont work and even if you could make it work through a bunch of modifications and computer recalibrations, it won't meet emissions for your year.

Look into Gen 3 LS-based engines from full size GMT800 V8 (99-07 classics pickups) or 00-06 SUVs. 4.8, 5.3, 6.0 are all direct swaps for your engine, just keep your existing intake manifold in case there are minor variations. The Express van (03-07) share the same engines as well.

I would try to stick with the 00-03ish maybe 04 engines. I dont remember exactly what year the reluctor wheel on the crank went from 24 tooth to 56. And that would require a different tune and if it was post 03, that requires a p59 computer and not the p01 he currently has. So for the least problems 2000 to 2003ish even 1999 engines should be used
Op what is wrong with the current engine?

All GMT800s LS had 24X (Gen III). Yeah, that's why I suggested OP keep his intake. He shouldn't have to mess with his ECU, unless he gets a different displacement, of course. Then he'll just need a reflash. But that's done pretty regularly nowadays. I was thinking basically swapping the longblock. The minor differences in the production are easy to resolve, mostly by keeping the matching intake manifold.

The 58X reluctor wheel is a Gen IV thing, introduced in the GMT900 lineup.

You can even swap a 58X engine into a 24X operation system vehicle if you wanted with that Ligenfelter converter box. But I don't want to confuse OP. He seems already lost a heck, given his initial question... SMH

Yes please let's keep it simple ..lol....as much as I would like to learn as quickly as possible I've got a lot of other stuff going on like schooling and work around the house I've got plenty of mechanical experience and more than all the tools I need just not sure about all the technacallitys and what motor will work with what ecu or will this harness work with that vehicle ya know all the interchange details thanks for all the information posted so far

If you've plenty of mechanical experience, then a 6.0L should be close enough to plug and play for your purposes, and you'll thank yourself for learning.
Keep some of the stuff from the 5.3L to swap onto the 6.0L for maximum plug&play-ability.
Remember, yours is physical throttle cable (DbC), not electronic throttle signal (DbW); avoid DbW
(even though it's pretty easy to convert pretty much any 6.0L from DbW to DbC).

Or, just get another PRE -02 5.3L to keep it 'duh'; more 6.0L for the rest of us ...
