More than possible solution

I've been chasing the reason my Tahoe sometimes will idle but die after giving gas...so I've been chasing vacuum leaks...did the regulator test and no gas leaking while running and vacuum seems fine...so I pulled the air chamber from the filter to throttle body and found this...so...how do I did the rubber part or get new stick or go cold air intake?

If you replace this part you should also get MAF cleaner at the parts store and follow directions to clean the MAF. Check out 2-3 you tubes for also cleaning the throttle body throttle plates.


In a pinch that old seal still looks like you could do small lube on the inside and reinstall and tighten the clamp. If it has a hole in it, replace it for sure.

air bypassing the maf could definitely cause some issues. as far as what you should do is up to you. if you want more growl from your engine bay get a reputable cold air dont cheap out or you could just end up chasing another issue. if you dont want any more noise replace the factory stuff for piece of mine. can probably get what you need from the place linked above or from a salvage yard. its not going to be a commonly damaged part so your good to go getting it used.

Also, James is right, a good used one can accomplish the same fix and that size and design of seal is the same for several years.

Thanks guys...air filter is more clean than dirty and I did remove and clean the MAF. Do i have to replace that entire piece or does the rubber part that attacheds to the throttle body come off? I don't think it does.

Sorry PNW...i didn't see this response. That seal on there seems like it's glued or bonded. I wasn't sure of I could pry it off or not. I didn't want to jack it up.

yes hence bypassing the maf. thats a pretty big gap in the intake. all intake air needs to pass through the maf. if you have gaps after the maf that could be pulling air in after the maf it can definitely throw reading off.
