Mirror assist lights

Ok guys I have a dumb question. I have had my 08 Yukon SLT for 2 months and I have never seen the lights on the bottom of the outside mirrors illuminate. I changed the bulbs and they still didnt come on. Is there a setting that you have to activate or change to get them to work? Thanks

I think there's a setting in the DIC display on the dash that will enable/disable them. Think its called approach lighting
