I've googled this and found answers from 70 to 140. Can someone tell me the proper torque for lug nuts. I'm guessing between 75 & 80? 140 is too much.

...no

you toque it by hand...without a torque wrench..because it doesnt matter...I've been doing this for the last 3 years...and ALL the time in Iraq on the humvees...specially with how hard I drove them through the dessert...it doesnt need to be exact...

I thought the idea was to get all the lugs evenly torqued so you didnt warp the rotor???? Isnt it easier using a torgue wrench i set mine for 140 and torgue all lug exactlly the same!!!

no, your not gonna harm anything.. (unless you hand tighten the lugs and leave it like that)

if your worried about exact torque rating...do 130 per lug...but if you do it by hand, you'll still be fine

I guess if I didn't have a torque wrench handy I'd do them by hand, but since I have one I prefer to just do it by the book.

Its always best to go by the book anyways

I usually go 100 or so on a 1/2 ton, 14mm is solid up to damn near 200 but I'd never torque mine past 120 or so especially on aftermarket wheels.

It is 140 ft lbs, stock or aftermarket wheels. We use torque sticks on our impact guns to make sure that it doesn't over tighten them. Then we set a toque wrench to 140 and final tighten them. Make sure that you also tighten them in the correct sequence.

I have aftermarket rims...I just used an impact gun to torque them on...twice in the last two days...front and back...no measurements...no damage... give me a break...its NOT that big of a deal...seriously

I've NEVER had an issue with ANY of my vehicles... (Denali, LIFTED Ranger, Nissan Stanza)..I've always done it by hand without measuring tools...I JUMP my vehicles, Race them, Slide them sideways...just dont leave them finger tight..lol...
