Chuck Whigham came to my house and installed the Ravelco Anti-theft device. Not only is he a consumate professional, the installation is such that you cannot tell where it went into the vehicle. I peered over his shoulder a couple of times and still could not tell where the items were inserted. It's that good of an installation. I'd take pictures, but there's nothing to show. The only thing visible is the female key fob adapter to plug in the mating key so the auto can be started. Nothing needed to be reset on the XL, save for driving it a 1/2 mile so the compass and TPS systems would come back online. Now, if you LOVE your remote starting capability, you will be sad, as you lose it. I did love it and will miss it, but I'd miss my truck more if it were stolen.

Since you live in the NE, Chuck can be reached via:

he took approx 6 hours in my driveway non-stop to do the professional install and immaculately cleaned up after himself. I don't often recommend services, but I wholeheartedly recommend his services.

If you don't mind me asking, how expensive is this Ravelco device?

I put in a directed electronics viper 5906v & smartstart 4g/gps, glass sensor, tilt sensor. I can monitor and/or control it all from my phone or my pc or even a tablet. 1 mile 2-way local range and worldwide range via 4g or internet.
it's not a lojack but it's adequate enough for my purposes, I have the same system on both my 2012 and my 2018 and had it on my 00 before I sold it.
if the system is triggered I get a alert on my keyfob both audible and vibration (if I am within the 1 mile radius), I get a email, I get a text and the viper app on the phone sounds a audible alarm also. If the vehicle is towed away I get the same alert's and I can track it on my phone or computer/tablet/laptop, etc
installed as I have it configured is about $1k, yearly monitoring service is about $100, slightly better deal if you do a 3yr service
it's not fool proof I am sure but it's good enough for any of the idiots around here.

if i lived somewhere that i felt the need to spend that kind of money to stop my vehicle being stolen id just move.

Move where? I don't know any place that is 100% safe. Some areas may have less vehicles thefts, but it’s always better to be safe than sorry. Plus, a lot of insurance companies offer additional discounts. The best devices are the ones that active when the vehicle is locked.

i agree but going past the factory alarm system or a basic viper kit to having your vehicle lojacked because vehicle theft is common enough its felt as a necessity. not saying i think you guys are nuts for paying the coin to have it done. just commenting that id probably move if it was that much of a concern. i live about an hour from work about 49 miles and im told im nuts and should just move closer to work. but i like the area i live and i dont mind the drive so to each his own. not trying to insult anyone just making conversation.

Wes, just wondering if the 2018 has anything better than original OnStar features for theft protection like glass or shock sensors engine disable etc.

it's supposed to be able to have additional features like tilt and glass but I didn't really look into it, I had the viper alarm installed like literally the next day after I bought the truck. no factory system will do what the viper will. the factory alarm is still enabled also, adding the viper system does not disable the factory alarm.
as for the other comment above about moving well I could live in bumfuck alaska 200 miles from anyone and I would still want a alarm that's just me I got tired of having my vehicles broken into, no where is safe anymore, I live in one of the best area's in my city, cars still get broken into and stolen every single day, doesn't matter where you live if someone want's what you have they will just take it if they can.
