Thinking of picking up a set of OEM sized wheels to swap for some light offroading or heading up on some snow covered roads in the winter. My Burb is a 2WD so might need chains too.

What are some options for offroad tires and maybe even the biggest I can fit on a stock setup? Will some of these tires be good enough for driving on snow covered roads / ice that wouldn't require chains? Mainly referring to local SoCal roads here.

btw, saw this ad for $350 that I may inquire about...

You can get up to about 32in maybe a bit more with stock setup thats about 285/75R16

I just picked up a set of General Grabber AT2 tires in the above size and love them!! great on highway but still nice and aggressive to get you through a mess

Damn, I just sod my 16 inch stockers with fairly good tires for 100 bucks. I had them for sale on here and Craigslist for a while, with no serious buyers. A guy finally came and bought them yesterday.

What's the biggest that will fit on these 17" Centerlines on stock height?

Ah! I only started to now think about it. I'll check the sales section.

I run 265/75/16 Hankook ATM RF10's and after some mudding last night they are one of the best all around tires ive used and i used to sell tires and wheels. I used them in 2wd all night and last winter had no problem in 8in of untouched snow. They have great side bitting and sip cleaning.

Some great options here!

How hard is it to find 16.5" tires? As in 33 x 12.5R x 16.5's. Will I be limited if I do pick up 16.5" wheels? I don't see Tirerack carrying more than one tire in that size.
