I searched the forum and I have decided that I would like to add a set of long tube headers. I see many people say that it's long tubes or bust. Are all of these people outside California? I have yet to find a Carb legal set of long tubes for a 99 4wd. Any suggestions?

Sunlit, I found those last night; and it looks like the Edelbrock TES headers are the closest thing to long tubes.
Jenna, Thank you for the reply. I can only find listings on their website for NBS tahoes. Is BBP a dealer for Bassani? Also, what is the wait list looking like for a data logging tune? I'm defiantly going to need it soon.

Unforunately we don't sell Bassanis, but they are really good headers! They may have stopped making the midlengths, but if you can find them somewhere, even used, snag them up!

Currently no wait for a cable.

Have they stopped making the Edelbrocks? I was going to wail until my cats went and then build a full exhaust system. Maybe I shouldn't wait.

Sunlit,
I have been reading lots of information about the TES headers. What do you think the real world gains will be from a set of those with new California legal cats and a high flow muffler?
I am thinking about building the following: TES headers, best flowing California legal cats, dual 2.5" into a Varoom muffler and then 3" out.

(Varoom mufflers is a new company, http://www.varoommufflers.com/. Its a long story, but if you go to there website my racecar is on the front page and any mufflers I want are free. Basically, the guy is a pneumatics engineer who has a huge air flow/dyno bench and is getting into the muffler business.)

I expect to get 15-20hp at least with high flow cats from magna-flow and a series 44 flowmaster. On claim by edelbrock says it would shave a whole second of your times.

After much I think that the whole exhaust setup will maybe free up 5% more HP; so that would be like 10-13 Hp if my 273,000mi engine was making it's full 260 @ the crank.

I really like how those Edelbrocks are made.

Crushing the primary tubes in half before they go into collectors, and having the area around the bolt holes hanging out into the tube will do wonders for performance....no wonder they're shutting down the exhaust side of the company.

99, i found out that the ceramic coated ones were actually better the the ti-tech and look like this:

They would cost about $770 delivered I am trying to see if I could squeeze it in this Friday and do the BBP tune and ported throttle body the next week but still short about $130. Still trying tho.

Wow those look nice. But they are the older style where the cats are located on the passenger side correct?

yes the cats do not need to be relocated when installing these setups. these edelbrocks were designed top be street legal, simple to do and provide an improvement. I found an old application guide for there exhaust system and typically the shorties gain you about 8hp while the TES gain about 28hp. I acually may go with the darker colored ti-tech coating and experiment with coloring them at a later time. but at any rate I should have money to order them them in four days.

Are your cats in a different place for some reason?

also you can still wait till the cats go and just install them later. Mine probably won't go on right away. I still want to get a BBP tune on a spare pcm and a ported throttle body. the pcm would be programed for the stuff I have now and the headers and TB among other variables so the pcm would have to wait till I can pay someone to install the headers. At that point I plug in the pcm and get the crank relearn done.
