Long time lurker! Brake pads this weekend

Found a lot of good info on this site. Chevy for life! I have done a few things on my Tahoe and would like to one day contribute. Brakes this weekend- do the inside brakes normally wear deeper than the outside pads? I’m at 28k on unknowns at 5 years (live one mile from work and keep it in the garage oh and drive the beater to work). Looks like 50% on the outside and have vacation scheduled so changing them with premium ceramic. Looking forward to seeing what the inside wear looks like..

Your Tahoe looks to be in excellent condition. Out of curiosity what year is your Tahoe and how many miles on it?

Make sure you clean and lube the caliper guides and at the end of the pads.

Yes, the inside pads usually wear a bit faster than the outside pads. You can lube under the abutment clips (on the caliper bracket) to fend off rust jacking, but you shouldn't lube the pad ears where they slide on the clips.

Why lube them? The clips are typically stainless steel and the lube can collect dirt. I am in agreement with Eric O at SMA and Wes at WWW. Even Eric doesn't lube them in the rust belt of NY.

EDIT: personal choice. I see that PowerStop recommends it. I've never needed to use it on the ears.

Theoretically then, any lube collects dirt any where. I just have always cleaned and lubed anywhere that something moves.

2015 with just over 111K. Bought it 4 years ago at 90K. Mostly used for visiting my son in Portland and vacations. Love this thing! I have a plug in AFM delete but runs fine without it. Mid grade fuel and catch can installed.

the inside pad "might" wear a little more than the outside, but not by much and in any case left & right side should look equally worn. If one pad is much more worn than the other that can indicate a sticky caliper, same if left & right are noticeably different.
50% is not bad, you can pull the wheels off and turn each wheel out and then you can inspect with a flashlight and see how much pads is remaining on the inside
my opinion would be if you have 50% or more on the outside and 30% or less remaining on the inside that would be indicative of a possible caliper problem, be it sliders, lubrication or whatever.
50/30 would be my max allowance, then I would start trying to figure out "why" because something isn't right.

Thank you! Makes sense to me. Everything was wearing evenly with no noticeable excessive wear. Swapped pads and cleaned/inspected parking shoes. All good! Now my ambient temp is reading 60° all the time so going after that. Never ending but I do enjoy working on it.

if you had the battery disconnected the ambient temp sensor will appear "stuck" until you drive it 55mph for about 5 miles. usually sets before the 5 miles but can take that long.

Did not disconnect the battery but the part ACDelco is $10 so just going to replace it and see how it goes. It did move a couple degrees.
