Leveling kit with new tires.

What's up fellas, I have a 2009 Tahoe LT that's 2WD with the typical Texas rake on it. I've had this Tahoe for a little over a year and I want to get rid of that soccer mom look with a leveling kit and some beefier tires. Just for budget purposes I'm planning on sticking with the stock 20" wheels. I haven't quite measured yet I'm thinking a 2"-2.5" spacer in the front and 1" spacer in the rear will do just fine. Which brings me to my first question because I see you guys talk about upper and lower spacers. Does one ride better than the other?


On to tires. I have the stock 275/55/20's and I know that I for sure want to go with the new BFGoodrich all terrain tires. So here's a couple of questions. I don't mind a wider tire, I'm just not a fan of tires that stick out way past the fenders. What is the tallest size tire I can run without trimming? Also, is there a certain letter rating or load range that I should stay in for a better ride? I think I've seen that mentioned here.

Lower or upper is same. Lower is easier to install but can't fit bigger than 2" or hit the cv shaft. Tires are 275/60R20 or 275/65R20 in those tires with some trimming. They run skinny so should help clear being taller.

That's essentially a 33" tire correct? Are we talking 10.50 skinny or skinnier?

Yes 33 vs 34. Both are 11 wide. Bf Goodrich run skinny like 10-10.5

If I went slightly wider like a 285 or 295,would I have any issues? I also don't know if that would be an odd size tire at a 285 or 295 that would be more expensive.

Have to go shorter side wall like 55 but yes would work

Look into the 275/60/20, basicly a 33x11. Plus they are stock size on the OEM Dodge Ram 1500's so they are a little cheaper to come by than say a 285/55/20.

I just lifted my 09 Yukon XL Denali with a 2" RC on the bottom of the strut. I kelp the stock 20" rims also and wrapped with 295/60r20 Nitto Ridge Grapplers. I had to trim the back inside plastic some and on the front I pulled the plastic liner back so I could modify both front and back of fender well. At the firewall I used a sledge hammer and bent the bottom corner a little and reconnected the plastic (can't even tell I bent the metal). The front has a plastic shelf that the liner connects to at the bottom, I took a drimal and cut about an inch off it and reapplied the liner (can't tell it's been cut either). The 295 just barley sticks out past the fender and the rear is dead even. I hope this helps

Question for the guys who've had leveling kits installed. If you're fender height measures 41" in the front and 43" in the rear, what's the purpose of installing something like the CCM 2/1 kit? Wouldn't it make more sense to just get a 2" kit up front to be level? I'm upgrading my shocks to Bilstein 5100's, replacing my tires with Nitto Terra Grappler G2's, and I need to decide how I want to level it out before this weekend because I'm planning on having all the work done Friday/Saturday.

Here's mine with CCM 2.5/1 kit installed. Still on 275/55r20's. Gonna go 275/60 or 65's but have too much tread now so I'll wait till I need tires. Put 5100's in when I did the CCM kit.
