Anyone on here tried their CAI kit? They advertise 17 hp on the 5.3L but I'm not sure how much of that is true. They've got some pretty cheap on eBay so I'm just looking for some feedback before buying one.

The 63-3058 Intake from K&N is next on my mod list so I have been doing a LOT of research on this. From reading forums/posts on this, everyone pretty much agrees that this intake does perform up to it's marketed standards. A lot of people say that a CAI is a CAI is a CAI.. meaning no matter if it is Volant, Spectre, K&N, etc.. they all do the same basic thing so i'm sure if you get an ebay cheaper on it WILL work, but who knows how well unless you installed each one and dyno'd each one... Anyways they have two different intakes for the 07-08 GM 5.3L's and one is averaging a gain of ~12 hp and the other one ~17 hp.

The 63-3058 intake with ~ 17 hp gain is the one i'm currently on the hunt for (waiting for the right price):

http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?Prod=63-3058

Their website has a dyno chart of both the 5.3L on stock/K&N intakes here:
http://www.knfilters.com/dynocharts/63-3058_dyno.pdf

The dyno doesn't lie!

dont believe the hype...are they beneficial, yes, worth 17hp...nope. Just get the best one, at the least amount you can. No need to spend a ton of money on one.

I'm not sure how much the dyno chart is going to help me anyway. I'm putting mine on the 6.2L Denali engine so it should free up a lil more power. Just to give you a heads up, I've found them on eBay for about $230 with free shipping. That's about $70 cheaper than I've seen them anywhere else. I'm just always hesitant about buying stuff on eBay. Not sure why, but I'd rather deal with a real person in a real store.

It's brand new on $221 on amazon shipped but i've seen used/mint condition ones on eBay for $175. Gonna wait for a killer deal before I pull the trigger on this one. Yea eBay can be sketchy sometimes, I just make sure it's a reliable seller with decent feedback.

haha they sell everything!!! you'd be surprised at how many times I was about to buy something on eBay, then AMAZON had it for cheaper! And I -LOVE- there free shipping/no tax amenities haha

---------- Post added at 01:44 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:40 PM ----------

you mean K&N's dyno, on their product?? ;)

well how could they lie on a dyno? I figured since it was tested and measured, then it was a reliable source of information on how the actual part PERFORMED compared to stock performance. I'm sure this type of intake will perform very similar to the respective AEM/Spectre/Volant/etc. intakes....

I'm getting one from autoanything.com for $211 total. They had a price match guarantee and free shipping. Figured I wouldn't find one brand new from a reputable company anywhere else cheaper. I'll let y'all know how it works out after I get it installed.

I have the FIPK and I am very pleased... There are a number of high quality intake kits on the market for a little less money but I would recomend getting a decent one. I bought the cheap ebay version and the thing let a TON of dirt in (build up on the tube and manifold)

Their dyno charts cant be wrong, because it is illegal... but SCEWED is for sure the truth... its probably a motor hooked up to a machine that is able to tweek peramiters... after installing the FIPK they probably make some modifications and recieve 17hp at the CRANK! (17 at the crank is not 17hp...)

I just picked up the 63-3058 Intake on ebay for $226 shipped. It was through Summit of all places. Much cheaper then their site. I have not installed it yet, just arrived. I plan on throwing it in this weekend. I will post up results. I will be using a dashhawk for the before and after logging.

It's in. Took about 30 minutes to install this morning. Did some 0-60 runs stock and with the intake. Dropped almost a tenth on average. The incoming air temp is about 15* colder then stock sitting idling at running temp. No results on MPG increase yet. Seat of the pants throttle response is impressive. Much quicker over stock. I think it is deff. worth the $226 I paid for it. Looks much nicer then stock, there isn't much noticeable increase in engine noise while driving either.

Hope this helps!!
