Hi Folks,

I've got an 07 Yukon XL Denali, and I'm asking if there are any interior cabin air filters, and if yes, where are they located?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

it does not have one from factory, but you can add the retrofit from autozone. all you need to do is cut out the panel add the door and filter.

gm#22759208 $43.63 includes door and bolt. this is from the dealer but i'm sure its way cheaper at autozone.

GM stopped including them in the GMT900, but the space for the filter is still there. You can buy a retrofit kit that is a filter and cover so that you can add it. You cut out the section that covers a slot void where the filter would go had GM included it, slide in the filter, then install the removable cover from the kit. There's actually an embossed line in the plastic that you follow with a sharp knife or other cutting tool of choice.

Watch this:

Quote: I added one. Worth it. Don't forget to change it though.

Very good point!

GM used to have the replaceable cabin filter prior to 2003. That’s what the retro-fit kit is based on, so it’s a perfect fit. As stated previously, the line is still there, to show you exactly where to cut, as is the tab and the hole where the screw taps into for the new access door!
IIRC, it took me about an hour to do the job, and well worth the effort!

When did the cabin filter come back? I just changed mine (2015 Yukon SLT) last week.

For me, based upon experiences with my other vehicles, I have seen leaves and all kinds of other foreign materials somehow make it to my cabin fan and heat exchanger box, and then they start to clog and restrict the airflow itself. As such, I was looking into whether or not there was a cabin filter already in place on my 07 Yukon XL Denali.

Based upon your quick and helpful responses that it did not exist for the 07 model year, I purchased the retro-fit kit and a charcoal infused air filter from Rock Auto, and I will install it within the next few days.

Thanks again for all of your quick responses and recommendations. This is a continuing tribute to the ongoing value of this Forum and its members.

I just completed the conversion, and it took about 2 hours and one bloody knuckle.

I used a Dremel with a cutting wheel and a right angle adapter to cut about 60% of the slot out. Then, I used a fine tooth hacksaw blade to cut the other 30% of the slot out, where I did not have sufficient clearance to use the Dremel. Last, I used a utility knife with a new heavy duty blade to cut the two end sections of the slot out.

Overall, one of the easier mods on this truck.

Thank you to all who offered advice and perspective on this conversion. Much appreciated.
