Someone enlighten me on what a performance intake manifold would do. Are the manifolds that are stock on the Vortecs flat? Or do they have a high rise? What is a model that would bolt on? And is it something worth swapping?
Thanks

Well, I've already got the AEM CAI. I wanted to see if there was a better way to get more air into the engine without purchasing a $2,500 supercharger.

Hope it has the plastic tube. It is still a stupid design when you have to splice wires to make it work. K&N does not need that. Also the fact that you keep that TB oem part with the silencer is a big killer. The K&N would actually be better for you. You can mod the tb blade a bit. Can't think of much else for just getting the air in there except for maybe some different valve rocker ratios. I use Comp Cams 1.52 roller tip ones. One or two users have used a plenum spacer which claims to add about 20hp but not sure if I have seen a dyno sheet on it like I have for the K&N.

He's talking intake manifolds not air intakes ... I think your only REAL choice is the marine intake, there are carb intakes available but you would need to get creative on the throttle body side of things. There was a guy that used a carb intake, a larger old school TBI with the injector pod removed with 8 individual injectors, not sure what he did with the electronics ... looked sweet though.

Check out the "All Girls Garage" tv show on Velocity. They did an episode, where they put a "carb" intake on top of an LS1 engine in a '69 Corvette, so it would look like an L88. I believe the throttle body they topped it off with was from Edelbrock. Pretty trick setup.

Just checked, replay at Tuesday Feb.4.

With the marine intake, will the stock TB work? Will it still fit under stock hood?
