How many miles per gallon are you getting? (19.6 mpg)

Before I get started I just want to say my 99 Tahoe is a bone stock 2wd 4dr.

Just wanted to throw this on here and compare it to others. Just bought a Scangauge II this morning at Autozone. I just went on a small trip to the Gilroy Outlets here in Cali. I wanted to see what kind of numbers I could get out of my Tahoe.

First thing I did after calibrating was do a performance run with it. I came out with a 0-60 time of 8.2 seconds and a 1/4 mile time of 16.6 seconds at 85 mph. I have already ordered a Volant intake and will probably be here either Wednesday this coming week or Tuesday the following at the latest. I will test it out again before and after the install.

On the way up to Gilroy I averaged 19.5 mpg according to the Scangauge. On the way back I averaged 21.0 mpg when I pulled into my driveway. You can see the video here:

For the day I drove 219 total miles averaging 19.6 miles per gallon. I was pretty happy to say the least.

I will have to do another test after I install my Volant intake when it gets here.

Anyone else have higher mpg's?

Thanks for reading.

I think your numbers are a little off.
With all the mods in my sig mine averages 14.5 mixed driving.
0-60 avg 9.7 sec
1/4 mile avg 17.50 sec

However mine is a 4 door 4x4.

Sorry I meant 8.2. It Really seems like there's a big difference in everyone's average. I guess I'll have to keep experimenting to see if I can do better.

In my 1996 4dr 4wd I have, and can get on the highway (60 mph tops) 22 mpg. In town, where I do the bulk of my driving I'm getting in between 12-15 depending on traffic and flow.

My last 3month avg with mixed driving was 14.1mpg. Highway I can pull 17.5mpg and town is most 13mpg. I have a CAI, shorty headers, BlackBear Tune and recent tune up. To the OP, you are getting really good numbers, or have an extremely light foot. You should try dropping the hammer a few times so we can get those numbers down a little. Lol.

Yeah same for me 14 mpg avg. Going on a Thanksgiving trip to the mountains of NC. Will be 1300 miles this week Will check the average. True dual exhaust is new and the 4" drop. See what happens.

When I have traveled in the past pulling a car trailer about 4000 lbs I would still get 10 mpg going 75 mph

Ill bet most of us with lower numbers have 3.73 gears. I got better mileage in my 2 door 93 but it had 3.52 I think.
