I can say that I love my 8 speed. Its at 185k and has regular fluid services at about 40k intervals - mix of flushes and pan drops. No thermostat bypass and just OEM fluid.
My 6 speed is great too, but I've massaged the shift speeds a little which makes it drive better without as much lugging as the OEM programming. Regular services as well since I've owned it.
From what I've gathered about the 10 speeds is cost cutting and EPA BS calibration has caused the valve bodies to wear prematurely. Sub-par materials don't hold up to the constant valve movements due to porosity / cheap aluminum without any metal sleeves to run against.
I've had the Ford 10 speed in a F-450 and hated it. I felt as though I was in the Fast and Furious movies with constant RPM changes. The 6 speed in the super duties and HD pickups with a gas motor in front of them are absolute butter and probably the best combo IMO.
I just drove a 2020 2500HD with the 6.6L gas and 6 speed with 194k on it and it was a dream to drive......definitely on my list for a truck when I chose to get another one.
