Have a 2005 Tahoe with 5.3-has 155k original miles. What’s the best brand of oil and should I go to a high mileage full synthetic?

that things still in diapers... so no. stick with the same oil you have been using unless it starts to use a inordinate amount between oil changes, smokes etc..
What does "iil" mean?

IMO, I would use 5w-30 Valvoline Restore & Protect. Bound to be some build up in there that could stand to be cleaned up. I have 178k miles on my 2005 Tahoe and like @Doubeleive said, it is just broke in and runs great.

Any Group4 (Poly Alpha Olefin) fully synthetic motor oil, 0W30 or 5W30.
Ran out of Pennzoil Platinum and Quaker State Full Synthetic right around the time I converted to Valvoline Restore & Protect 5W30.
After two oil changes my mech asked if I'd bought a brand new dipstick - I did NOT. V R&P works.
