No im not happy that i spent tha money.. When i bought the truck i had a new dual exhaust with new 02 sensors installed..

HAS no exhaust leaks b4 or after 02 sensors.. has no convertor on either...

Spend the money on that cable and the free software and learn how to do a data capture then look at it and fix what is wrong.

all the parts that i have replaced came from the gm dealer.. i provided them the vin number and they gave me all the parts......

far as the data capture.. the shop did that and all the sensors and everything was working and in order they said...

the one thing they did tell me was when they had the tank dropped the strainer was clogged with rust. they thoughly cleaned out the fuel tank before re-installing.. do u think that maybe the filter and line goin to tbi could be clogge???????

on the diagnostic connector below dash look at the top row of terminals and the right end the last two wires should be white/black and black white. these wires are right next to each other not a few wires apart. short the two together and turn key to on but do not start. the check engine light will start to flash. 1 flash, short pause, 2 flashes then a long pause. that means 12. you will see it flash the number 3 times. if you have fault codes they will each flash 3 times, if you have no recorded faults it will continue to flash 12 continuously.

@sunlitcomet. ok i done the key off code and first code was 12 then it flashes 3 quick flashes?? would that mean a "code 33" any ideas what that code is?

3 does not exist try reading again and watch closely.


code 54 is a fuel pump monitoring circuit. it is basically there to so if the fuel pump is getting power from the fuel control relay when starting or oil pressure switch when running. code 54 means suring one of those two modes the positive power supply to the pump has bee interrupted. and i dont meant a loose ground connection.

@sunlitComet have you ever heard of the manifolds clogging up??? my truck doesnt have convertors on it... i took it to another shop and the banged on the right manifold and the truck runs fine... let it sit overnight and it will surge... i tried it this morning and it ran like shit.. came home after work and banged on the manifold and just took a hour long test ride without any problems...

manifolds not really, converters yes. you got me there. you positive. perhaps it is making the nearby grounds making intermittent connections that sometimes work or don't work. that mani has a 2+inch hole on the exit and that seem unlikely to ever get plugged.
