2001 Tahoe LS 4WD, 5.3L, 165k miles. Have had several issues appear in short time, wondering if there is a common thread - or just bad luck. First, oil pressure sending unit started spewing oil. Replaced and OK for a short time. Then gear selector began flopping around. Replaced spring with one from hardware store (not GM - a little less stiff) and worked fine. Then began stalling out at idle and idle speed seemed to hover a bit low - just above 500 on the tach. Had fuel pump replaced with new AC Delco one about 2 years earlier. Checked fuel pressure with loaner gage set from AZ. Not sure how accurate their sets are, but about 40 psi at idle on the first gage I "rented" and about 50 on the second set. Does not seem to stall at higher speeds. Cleaned MAF and throttle body (on vehicle, did not remove).

No CEL, but got a crankshaft position sensor error code on basic scan tool, so replaced the crankshaft position sensor. Still stalling at idle - noticed it seemed to happen when turning steering wheel while not moving or first putting into gear. Removed and cleaned Idle Air Control motor. Reduced stalling, but idle still wandering and dropping nearly to 500 rpm.

Not sure if related, but while test driving around the neighborhood, if it stalled and I'd shift into N while coasting to re-start, the shift indicator would not highlight N. I'd totally stop and would not display R or N. After re-start, shift indicator would properly highlight each gear selected. Consistently did this several times.

Just seems like an awful lot to happen all at once. Not sure how all the electronics work together and if it can all be related? Thanks in advance for any advice/suggestions.

After changing the crank sensor, a CASE relearn is recommended. Do one to rule it out as a possible variable.

I do think your idle issue is likely something else, possibly a ground or low voltage cause.
