I need to replace the mirror glass on my 2004 tahoe. How do I go about removing the existing glass? Plus where's a good CHEAP place to get a replacement DL3 glass (signal, heated, dimming)?

Difference in glass?

I'm confused (I don't know a lot about aftermarket parts etc). But what is the difference between what you posted above from ebay, and this:

http://www.amazon.com/Pilot-CV90194...ve&Make=Chevrolet|47&Year=2002|2002&carId=001

Pilot CV9019410-3L00 Chevrolet Tahoe Black Power Heated Replacement Driver Side Mirror

Besides the obvious "turn signal light" what is the difference? Is the glass different/better? Thanks!

That one from Amazon is a heated mirror only. I'm looking to replace a heated, auto-dimming, and turn signal mirror.

Ok so besides the "auto-dimming" and signal, why you buy just the glass when the while assembly is cheaper? Is there a difference in the actual glass you are getting? I'm asking because I need to replace the glass in both my side mirrors and thought the assembly was a good option.

Again, excuse my ignorance, but what is "auto dimming"? Thanks!

does only the driver side dim? because roc auto only list the driver side as electrochromatic and not the passenger side. mine was stolen yesterday and i need to replace mine for more than 200 bucks on the passenger side. mirror stolen cause some ******** wants turn signals in his mirrors. which only go for 90 bucks. and they wont wire them up for heat or dimming.

If a car comes up behind you and has super bright headlights or has their high beams on, the mirror will dim to ease the brightness.

This definitely looks interesting. Does anyone have experience purchasing from these guys? I think it's exactly what I need. I do want to take a picture of my driver's side mirror. It just looks strange, so it makes me wonder if I have the auto-dimming glass.

Here is the picture of my damaged driver's side mirror. Does aanyone know if this damage indicates an auti-dimming feature? Again its a 2002 Tahoe LT.

It looks like it is. I have an '05 with the auto dim. I got a chip in mine and there is a fluid in there that leaked out. There is a line where the level of the fluid is but mine has kind of a green tint to it, not the brown like your pic shows. I did put some clear silicone on the chip and it turned brownish after a few days though.

I took some pictures of my mirror today. You can see at the top of the mirror where the level of the fluid in the mirror leaked down. It doesn't look brown like your mirror, but the clear silicone I put over the chip has turned brown.

Thanks for the picture. I'll have to check mine out more closely. So far, I haven't seen any replacement glass/assembly that says 'auto-dim' for my model year (2002).

So after pressing on the driver's side mirror, I can see liquid under the glass. Auto dimming. So has anyone found a good place to purchase the replacement?

My drivers mirror looks similar to Joltman's. I just ordered a replacement glass from these guys: http://www.drivewire.com/

Looks like the original glass in the picture. Hopefully it's as easy to replace as all the information I have found suggests. Just pop out the old one and pop the new one in place.

Hope it works. $170 sounds a lot better than $350 for the whole assembly.
