Im trying to replace the mirror glass on my 07 tahoe ltz. It has the heated, turn signal option. I got one from Amazon and it has 4 little tabs that slide down to lock in place. The issue is mine has a circle of tabs that just push into place. I've looked the internet over and they are all the same as the one I got from Amazon. I see nothing that looks like mine. Any ideas what I'm dealing with?

Your's was probably an aftermarket mirror before.
What does the bucket look like behind it? (what did the old one mount to) Perhaps your whole mirror assembly is non-standard aftermarket.

Im starting to wonder that myself. Vehicle was 8 years old when we bought it so that's a possibility.

All the gm mirrors ive taken apart look like your original. That circle of clips ‘clip’ onto the motor in the mirror. The second pic looks completely different from a gm mirror
Not that this helps but i believe thatsvthe wrong insert. Check ebay and get a full mirror maybe?

My factory mirrors had the 4 tabs.
There is a ring, but it attaches to the mirror with the 4 tabs.
Edge of ring is facing actuator, which snaps on with 4 different tabs iirc..

@_GMAN_ 's photo below
You can see the 4 upward tabs, and the 4 locations with a small hole over a slot (clocked 90deg from tabs) is where the actuator snaps in on the back.

Yeah so, funny story…I’ve never actually taken my 13 apart….i used to have take my 01 apart to fix the flop often and a broken glass once and it looked like the original pic. I wonder if they changed designs after 07 since that was the change over year.
I stand corrected @mikez71:)

I searched all years and they look the same as the new one I got. Im thanking maybe the whole mirror was changed at some point but it's odd that you said the ones you've been into look like my original.

Ok, my mirror assembly looks nothing like that. On mine you can see the two motors that move it and there is a open circle around them.

I remember pushing the mirror all the way to one side and releasing the circle of clips with a screwdriver until enough were discon to just pull it completely off….
I dunno

Easiest way I found to remove the tab type, is to angle the mirror and squeeze your fingertips behind that ring edge and yank it out.
It will pop the bucket off with the mirror.
Just be careful with the heating wires that's attached.

the "original" one you pictured is aftermarket, it is like a nbs style which is where mr gamboa got confused
that being said do you have a picture your whole existing mirror housing?
I ask because how the rest of it is designed depends on how much you need to spend to get a correct mirror
for instance if the "cap" is painted to match and is a oem type then you can grab any used oem DL3 mirror, install it and slap your color matched cap on it and you are good to go.
OR... if the motor inside matches up with oem on the backside and just the front is different, then you can just buy a oem motor and be good to go.
