hey guys i need your help more than ever! i was driving my truck yesterday and it starting idling erratically. i got right across the street from my house and it completely shut off. when i started it back up it automatically reved up to about 3500rpm for about 5 seconds then shut off again. sounded like air escaping from somewhere or something. this is a brand new 383 stroker. just got to 450 miles. help please!!

Well If you hear air escaping, I would check the compression and the vacuum on the intake. I'd also check the Idle Air ointrol on the TB.

yea im almost sure it has something to do with the tb because it just revs all the way up as soon as i start it up. Next question is...where is all that located? Also could it be the intake gasket??

Take some starting fluid and spray around intake(make sure engine is cold) and tb gasket. If the motor revs or changes sound? Gotta leak!

im assuming this is with the engine running? The engine wont stay on. As soon as i start it up it the rpms shoot up to 3500rpm for about 5 seconds then i hear the air escape then it shuts off..

Sounds like unmetered air to me. I had a similar problem on a different truck once. It turns out I hadn't tightened the intake bolts all the way and the engine was sucking it "extra" air.

yea i was going WOT for a few seconds right before this happened so im thinkin the pressure that built up in the engine may have done something.

which line are you talking about? im thinking something popped off because the truck has been running fine since i dropped the engine in a few weeks ago.

really any of the vacume lines or the egr if you have it installed.. and check the torque on you tb if and you have a spacer or anything like that.. these trucks run real rich to start and sounds like yrou sucking so much air that it is burning all teh fuel and dieing because the injectors are not getting the signal form the tps to pump more fuel.. major vacumeleak some where
