Help needed with trans swap info - 2000 1500 vs 2004 Esky

So I have a 2000 GMC 1500 4 wheel drive with a4 l60 e and a Manuel shift transfer case my trans went bad and I got a 4 l60 e out of a 04 Cadillac Escalade AWD trans looked all the same everything bolted up but the neutral safety switch on my harness had 2 plugs and the esvade trans only had one so i switched the safty swith off my old trans to the new one truck starts runs fine but when i drove it shifted from first to second real late with a hard shift and doesnt shift after that seems like when i came to a stop it never downshifted to the 1st gear again just stayd in the second gear again when i accelerated back home i used my torque converter i had purcgased new for my specific year truck what could be my issue i no the trans from escalade worked perfect cuz i drove the day i pulled it
