Alright so the time is almost here for me to put my hoe in the shop to put all of my stuff on. I've almost got my claim for the hood reversed and my grille is supposed to arrive any minute now. What I have been waffling on for some time now is whether to roll pan or not. I love the look but I basically have to sacrifice either the spare or the hitch. The hitch is a must and I don't love the idea of not having a spare especially when we go camping in the middle of nowhere on occasion. The alternative would be to just have the stock bumper color matched while in the shop with everything else. At first I was completely sold on the roll pan as I think it is hands down the best look for the vehicle. What's your vote?

Someone in a different thread said that the new Avalanche bumper bolts right up and it comes painted already. So you find one and have it painted to match. I think it looks alot better than our bumper IMHO...

The only thing I don't like about the 07+ Avalanche bumper is the 4 round areas in the bottom of the bumper that I imagine are screw covers or something. It's not so bad where I don't think it is a bad option though. I'll have to see if I can find how the fitment is first though.

That would make sense... look semi similar to the ones that were in my 545 I used to have, just not as well blended in.

well that avalanche bumper looks like the 00-06 denali bumper, but the denail bumper doesn't have the backup sensors, so maybe check into that? other than that, ya paint to match. I like the rollpan look too, but with my luck I'd get hit from behind and mess up the tailgate too

Denali bumper :imo: I don't trust my fellow motorists enough to rock a rollpan on my suv, especially with my dog in the back. I feel like these trucks need a rear bumper like they need a roof rack otherwise the body line gets all ****** up. Again just my opinion.

Color match the bumper and while its at the shop color match your mirrior covers, and door handles!!!

Haha, that was already in the works. I have my shop color matching everything. The only thing left to decide on was the bumper/rollpan route. Thanks for your input guys. I was already leaning towards keeping the bumper (or getting another one) simply because I didn't want to sacrifice the hitch or the spare. I was just struggling with it because I have always been a fan of how clean the roll pan looks.

Color match the bumper, I was leanin toward a roll pan after some one I work with secretly bought 1 for his Yukon then his wife said no and had to sell it but even tho I like how it looks I don't think I would wanna lose my bumper, look like sumthin is missin if it's not lowered plus how you gunna clean the rear windshield without that booster step, I'm about 6' 2" and I have a hard time reachin it

Add another vote for color-matching. Unless all you use your truck for is looking cool, you'll probably need the bumper (if someone hits you), the hitch, and/or the spare. It is a big bumper, but damn, that's what bumpers are for.

I posted about the Avalanche bumper. I actually have one in the works except mine won't have the backup sensors.. I saw it on a Suburban here a few weeks ago and loved how well it flows with the lines and lessens the gap between the body and the bumper. I should have it ready and installed in a month or so along with the Escalade running boards, front bumper and grille..

Definitely post pics of that when you get it. I think for the time being I'm going to go ahead with the color matching of the stocker. I am going into the shop in a week or two most likely, I am just awaiting purchase of my 2500HD since the ebay route didn't work out so well. Then I'm in and painting the stock one will keep me from having to go back anytime soon which is definitely appealing and I can take my modding to lowering and the exhaust. I am definitely interested in the possibility of the 07 Avalanche bumper though so keep us posted.

You know it's a PITA to paint chrome right? Hope your paint guy knows what he's doing. Guess it doesn't mattere if you're not gonna have it permanent..

I will definitely show what it looks like. I'm really looking forward to this..

My paint guy rocks. Used him for the past 5 years and he has done my families work as well. He definitely knows his stuff. He said he would have it blasted before painting it to remove the finish. In any case though, I trust him with my stuff. He has not done me wrong yet!
