If I remember right, the paint code is contained in the VIN. Whenever I purchase touchup paint, the dealer only askes me for my VIN to obtain the correct paint.
OK. I was not totally correct in stating that the paint code is contained in the VUN. However, the GM dealer can use your VIN to get access to the paint code.
