Heater core hose to water pump

Good morning, Gents!

I'm replacing my water pump because whoever replaced it before me didn't seal it correctly, and it has been slowly leaking. I've done this on other Tahoes, so it's not a big deal. While removing the hoses, I *think* I noticed that whoever did it before might have mixed up the heater core hose lines. The way it is currently connected (looking into the engine), the right core hose is connected to the left port on the water pump. Shouldn't it be that the right hose connects to the right port? I'm hoping this is making sense. If that's correct, it might explain why I'm hearing gurgling while running the heater.

I can't find a diagram of the hose layout on a 2001 Tahoe, so if anyone has one, that would be great.

Post some pics for us to look at. There are many people here that have that generation and may be able to visually compare with theirs

2004 shown. YMMV I think the ports on the water pump might be different sizes.

Does this help? It says it's an 01, but I would be really surprised if they are different than any other year of this gen.

Also note that the color on the hose quick connect matches the color of the respective tee.

The picture shows that your lines are connected right to right, left to left...but the diagram shows how mine is currently connected.

Was probably someone with OCD not wanting to have the heater hoses cross each other.

Ok, I see. No rear heat so no tees.

I'm concluding that it doesn't make a difference. I've watched about 10 videos about replacing these hoses; some are right-to-right, and some are right-to-left. I'll switch mine to right-to-right and see if it solves my gurgling problem. If I'm wrong, it's only expensive anti-freeze that I'm wasting.

hose placement means nothing one is in the other is out, the heater core dont care.

gurgling means theres air trapped in the heater core. so pull one hose off hold it up and fill the core via the hose. pop it back on the water pump. problem solved.

So, I was going to do Scotty's suggestion, but after swapping my lines from what they were, my core stopped gurgling. The left core port goes to the left water pump outlet and the right to the right. I pulled this image off a YouTube and it shows the correct layout.

I have the same setup in my 2006 Tahoe. Is the hose number 3 a molded hose? I replaced mine with a regular hose and it seems like it might kink in the bend near the pump. If it is molded, what is the part number for it? I can not find one.
