Has anyone relocated their rear view mirror?

I want to drop the rear view mirror about an inch or two but i'm afraid it wont adhere correctly. I did this on another car it didn't hold up. Has anyone else done this?

Mine has two pivot points on the stem off of the windshield. Those would allow you to achieve the same thing, no?

Actually i just realized what you mean. That wouldn't work for me. I need it to drop down about an inch or two. I guess i'll try it out and hope for the best and hope it stays on.

Just use the rearview mirror adhesive in every store in the world.... make sure you use enough but not too much and let it setup like directions say... you should be good

so your seat is adjusted all the way up, you repositioned mirror down & you still need mirror lower?


if so, then give the mirror adhesive a try
or a booster (lol, sorry had to say it)

Either the OP is wanting to do this because he is really short or is wanting to mount something above the mirror. I'm curious. Regardless, all you should have to do is glue a mount to the glass using rearview mirror adhesive. Just clean the glass very well and use according to the directions. Keep in mind you may have to reposition or modify a rain sensor or wire harness(es).

If you just want to add a second mount, no problem. Just use the correct adhesive like others have said. The only problem I see is if you want to remove the original mount and reuse it. I used to install windshields and have glued many mounts on and once in awhile would get one in the wrong place occasionally. In order to remove one it requires a lot of heat to melt the adhesive and there's a risk of breaking the glass. I used to use alcohol, lit on fire, but the windshield had to be out of the car laying upside down.

I've got the right adhesive and i'm going to lower it regardless. I was just wondering if anyone has had any problems of it falling off later on. I did this to my S2000 and it's fallen off twice using the proper adhesive.

It must have been the technique if it fell off after using the right adhesive. After all it's how the manufacturer of windshields attach the mounts. They used to come without the mounts and I had to install them before installing the windshield. Never had one fall off that I installed. Don't use too much glue and make sure to clean both surfaces with alcohol. Also for some reason if a failure occurs once it's more likely to happen again if you're putting it back in the same place. It seems to contaminate the glass or something.

Once, my mirror fell off of the windshield (mount and all) on my jeep. I used clear liquid 2-part epoxy on it and it's stayed on ever since through all of the hell I put it through. I did have to tape it in place until the epoxy set though...

If it were being used for law enforcement wouldn’t it be a state/federally owned vehicle? They must have a mechanic that can fuss with it for you?
