Has anyone pulled the oil pan on their NBS Denali ( or 4WD)??

I've searched and found contradictory info on whether or not the front diff needs to be completely pulled. Some say you can just pull the mounting bolts and lower and some say it has to be completely removed. If anybody here has pulled theirs, please enlighten me as to how difficult it is. Probably anyone with a 4WD would be able to shed light on this. I'm trying to decide on whether or not to pull the pan to retrieve a piece of my dipstick tube that fell into the pan when I was trying to replace it. I'll be doing a cam soon, and have an oil pump and timing chain to do also but might just do the cam if the entire job is too much.

I lowered my diff, pan wont come out otherwise. You do not have to fully drop it or disconnect the axles but you do have to undo the mounting bolts to get it to drop down.

Great, that's what I was hoping. I saw another person who said he had to remove the entire diff, but maybe he just didn't know any better.

Just need to unbolt the diff and drop it down. The diff does not need to be completely removed. It's not a difficult task by any means.

Edit: whoops. Thought it said what did you clean with. So yeah, how did you clean it and what paint?

I usually use a combination of brake parts cleaner and purple power degreaser. Then for paint I generally keep a few cans of the rustoleum bbq black high heat. It's dull and has no shine so if you want something fancy get duplicolor 500 degree engine enamel in the gloss black. Either will work very nice. Rustoleum I get from home depot and the duplicolor from any parts store.
