Well here goes nothing. Been on a ton of different forums over the years reading all types of cool build threads. The one thing I have never done tho was start MY OWN build thread. I figured since I'm still in the beginning stages of this new project, I may as well start a build thread here and now. Especially after reading thru @Fosscore entire build thread then starting on so many others on here, its sucking me in lol.

I picked up my 2005 2WD Bermuda Blue Tahoe in June of 2020 with just over 179k miles. I'm the second owner, and have the window sticker from the lot when it was first sold. Since I've had it alot of the basic fixer upper things have been done which I will list below if I can remember. My beginning goal for this Tahoe was just to replace my extended cab truck due to our baby coming, so I needed more space. Wanted a Suburban, but just couldn't find what I wanted in my budget range. Now that I got sucked into TYF, I still want to find a Suburban, and turn this Tahoe into the street/strip toy. Bigger motor, 4L80 swap, ProCharger etc. That is all in due time tho.

Anyways, here's what I can remember thus far that I have done either maintenance wise or mod wise, and if I can find the pictures I will get them posted as well.

-New shocks front and rear. Holy crap Nivomat shocks are expensive!
-Replaced both back seat window motors and regulators.
-Back glass struts
-Rear main engine seal and cover
-Radiator after it blew out randomly. Lived to 190k miles tho!
-New rear sway bar bushings and links, lower control arms, transmission mount and spring isolators. (Basically trying to hunt down a squeak over bumps that I still havent found yet and its driving me nuts.)
-Power steering gear box
-Smoked Black Headlights and Fog Lights (Need new headlights tho as the radiator that just blew out took out the passenger headlight housing)
-LED bulbs for Headlights and Fog Lights
-Reverse LED Lights
-Replaced all the steering wheel buttons with new ones with working lights
-Sony AVX1000 with PAC Kit to keep onstar and steering wheel controls
-Swapped out the jump seat for a full center console unit
-3% limo tint all the way around excluding the windshield for now

Thats all I can remember for now. If I can think of more I'll add it to the post. I also have a bunch of things piled up in the garage from amazon that I just havent had time to install yet. Full LED cluster/gauges rebuild kit, USB lighter update, reverse camera for radio, LED plate lights, decladded LTZ rims/tires. Belltech Lowering kit is on order. Just bunch to do between the baby and working nights. Slow and steady does it. Just happy to start my first build thread after a few decades on forums without one lol.

The day she came home...

As I find more pics Ill make sure to add them along the way. I also need to get better at documenting and taking pics of what gets done. Itll be a slow and long process, but hey at least I got started!!

Welcome to the fold. She's looking good. Have any drivetrain mods planned? Originally came with the 4.8 or 5.3?

Thanks. For now no, I need to keep it simple and quiet for the baby. But I do have plans once another vehicle is bought for a daily. It’s a stock 5.3 2WD for now. Once I do tho, 4L80 swap, ProCharger along with all the other supporting engine goodies.

Welcome Hans! Going to baseline the truck? We're going to the race track in January again to run a bunch of trucks.
Honestly I don’t plan on beating on this until I have another daily. Then it’s all in performance wise. Get some baseline runs and dyno numbers then mod from there. I always like dyno and track numbers to start with. What track do you go to? I’m in South Florida.

How long have you been in Florida? I grew up in Fort Lauderdale and used to race at the old Miami-Hollywood Speedway until the last day in the early 1990s.

@HansJr
Way to get it started man.
Thanks bud! Took longer than anticipated, but the short time off for the holidays gave me a small window to finally write something up.

Got ya. I’ve been in Broward since 1995. What group of trucks goes up there and when? I’ve pretty much lived at drag strips across the country the last 12 years or so for work. Lol.

Welcome, looking good!

Curious, do you still have the jump seat console (just the whole part w/lid that flips up for the jump seat) and, if it's not broken, would you be willing to part with it? Neighbor's '04 needs one.

I do. I would. But I am 300lbs and my elbo pressure getting in and out put a crack in the lid. I can take a pic when I go back to storage of if and see if you’d still want it.

If it's not too much trouble. I think her lid is broken, too -- I need to look at it -- so I may need to BOLO at the uPulls when I go.

I got ya. When I can look at it I’ll let ya know. Also there’s a guy locally to me on FB marketplace that always has a bunch for sale at decent prices, if mine is not what you are looking for
