So today the wife's Jimmy transmission went for a poop. :(

It goes in tomorrow morning for an estimate, but the truck is currently worth less than $2000, I've had it for several years and it's suffering from cancer all over. I'm not too keen on dumping in more $$$.

So I started shopping for a replacement truck for her. I'm keeping mine.

THIS is what I've found tonight. I havn't shown her it yet. I wanted to run it by you guys first.

I gotta figure that any guy who puts a flatscreen TV in his garage keeps up the maintenence of his rig?

It looks really clean for a '92 and he's got a lot put into it. I'd really look it through properly though making sure all that extra work is done properly and that theres no hidden rust etc since its getting a little old and has 185 k on it. I'd say 6400 is a little steep. but from here it seems well taken care of and it has a little work done to it, so it may be worth it. Definitely worth checking out!

Thanks for the advice!

Ya, I was thinking about rust too. It's a big problem up the in Great White North.

I think the 185k kms is only 115k miles? IDK, my truck has over 250kms(155k miles) on it. I was excited to see that it has less kms than mine!

It looks nice but remember "looks can be deceiving". Dont always trust what people say they have done, remember they are trying to be salesmen.
I'd go check it out, climb under it and really get your hands dirty.

I'd love another 2dr. Its funny I was following my wife home, I kept saying how nice it looked and how much better it would look a little lower, hah. Sorry for blabbing.

Nice rig but $6500 is fairly steep IMO! :)

Well you guys were right. I looked at it this afternoon. The guy just put lipstick on a pig. Underneath it was still a pig.

So I've been shopping again tonight.
I have a couple more choices I'm gonna look at tomorrow. Unfortunately, niether is an OBS though.

My wife prefers this; 109k kms = 67k miles

But I'm leaning towards this; 118k kms = 73k miles

However seeing as this vehicle is for her, I may have to give in if I intend to keep my marital bliss...:)

I'd prefer the hoe too but like you said it's essentially up to her:) I got lucky when we were looking as the envoys( and the like ) were not big enough for her :)

Your lucky.... My wife says cars are too small, and the Yukons and Tahoes are too big..... She finds the Jimmys and Envoys just right....:)

:) the only downside for mine is for some reason she doesn't like the looks of the OBS rides  a few years ago the closest I could get her was with the 99 Denali we bought but for some reason shes not real keen on the 'traditional' obs hoes or kons....

FTW!! :D I lost count how many times I located a square burb for the wife and she put the ole kibosh on it  I told her I could build to be just as nice as a new one but she wouldn't have it :D I think she saw through me and realized it was more for me.

I'd definitely love to have a K5 like that, though. Hard to find nice ones these days!

Ya, My wife said no to that one too....

We went out today to look at that 04 tahoe... It's gone... The lot had an 04 trailblazer for only $5500 as-is but it had 180k kms on it = 111k miles. My wife was ok with it, but I would like an Envoy instead.. IDK... The TB goes in for a mechanical at my shop on Monday. See what it needs.

Exactly what else is wrong with her current vehicle besides the recent tranny problem?

Meh, it's getting old...We've had it for several years now. It has some cancer spots showing. Me thinks it has a phantom electrical issue somewhere too, and I don't have time to track it down. Random shutoffs on highway. Random gauges go wonky. Me thinks the tranny issue is actually electrical too.

Basically when it becomes unreliable, it's time to move on. And I have to keep her happy...

Pulled the trigger and bought her the 04 Trailblazer today.

I also bought the Lubrico powertrain and overcoverages options for 2yrs unlimited kms.

Final cheque total: $8245.16 after taxes, warranty, admin fee, etc. My wallet feels much lighter today for some reason. Oh yeah, my play money is gone....

Time to register for trailvoy.com I guess.

Thanks for all the opinions on the OBS guys. Too bad I couldn't talk her into it. :(

Sounds like you got quite a bit for your $8200, though, so that is good. As long as she's happy that's a pretty big plus:)
