hey guys been wanting to get myself a project truck for a while now and came across this truck today..1700 with a 350 engine runs and tranny sometimes wont go into reverse. Cleanest body ive seen around with little to no dents, interior is all their and looks almost brand new with the original seat only having two 1/2 inch tears in the bottom. It has minimal rust actually has less than my tahoe. It also is a trailering special which has factory hitch and moldings on the side. I did some research and i believe it is even more rare to find that edition on a 1/2 ton and especially being a short bed. plans are to do a nice drop on it and swap a ls 5.3 and 4l60e, i might even swap in my cammed engine from my tahoe. get the body work completly done and get some nice paint on it and have a nice weekend truck for next year

Oh wow that thing is insanely clean!! That is my favorite front end and yeah, I rarely see that package on a SWB 1/2 Ton. If you do swap the engine from the tahoe in it, just sell me the tahoe :)

Moved this to the proper section for you :waytogo:

Awesome project! Love seeing more square bodies saved and restored :) just got my '77 out yesterday for a nice cruise. They are awesome to drive and get lots of attention.

thanks guys. and overall plan for truck is going to be to completly get all the body work done and eventually paint it...also drop it and add some 18,20 combo wheels. I will also do an ls swap and 4l60e aswell if all goes well. Also restore and repolish all the chrome and make it a badass truck for the strip and a weekend truck overall but well see how it goes. Im very exited to get started, i picked up the truck today. interior is in great condition also

Please do it justice and drop in at a min a 6.0/4L80e combo. anything else would be insulting.

as i do agree in a 6.0 being badass..a 4l80e would be a must...as far as engine on a truck a 5.3 with cam and bolt ons can also be badass especially with the nitrous express kit i have. but if i do find one for a good price id deffenetly do a 6.0

5.3's are much easier to find and therefore much cheaper generally speaking and TONS of parts out there for them, obviously. I think that'd be a great choice :)

pretty much half the price of the 6.0 and alot easier to find as you mentioned. i have seen them around for about 500 as i am a college student right now this project will also be on a budget but done the right way to the best of my ability. first thing on my list to do is get a complely cleaning on it and doing a 2/4 drop. also switching out those huge mirrors for the smaller sporty ones and removing the window trim

i will add much more pics later today of the interior and rest of the truck as i will be collecting pics for a build thread

Taking those big dumbo mirrors off for the smaller ones makes a HUGE difference in the looks department. I did the same swap. At one time I'd thought about just shaving the side mirrors but quickly decided against that after driving it a couple of times without the mirrors other than the rearview mirror

Yeah, it's been redone from the ground up. Here's a pic of the day I got it back in 2003
