Greetings! I suppose you could say I'm a late bloomer when it comes to joining this site, but I'm glad I found it. I leased a 1998 Tahoe LT from 1998 - 2001 and then purchased a 2002 Z71 that has been my only vehicle since I bought it. I just passed 169K of mostly highway miles, and now I'm starting to invest quite a bit of time into replacing worn out hardware, performing long-overdue fluid changes, updating the sound system and finally leveling the machine. I'm an inexperienced DIY mechanic that's managing to get by with YouTube videos, a Chilton manual and tips from this and other websites. Most of my Tahoe's 18 years have been spent in Texas and the southern US, so it hasn't had to battle much snow and salt. Also, I'm a lifetime bachelor so the back seats are in excellent condition.
Parts I have on order for installation in the very near future are....Bilstein 5100's, Moog coil springs, sway bar links and bushings, front/rear bump stops, and rear diff cover.
I recently snapped off the stock nerf bar on the passenger side when I slammed into a ditch on my hunting lease, so I'm on the lookout for a used replacement at the Pick and Pull.
I'm currently running BFG 265/70/17 E's, but I think I may want to upsize to 275's or 285's once the 265's are done.
Last but not least, it looks like I might have a rear main seal leak. Ugh! If true, I will probably defer to a local shop to fix that.
This site has already been incredibly helpful to me, and I look forward to learning a lot more.
Thanks, Steve
