Just paid $2.559 for diesel in San Antonio, TX. Regular was $2.799 at the same station. Loving the diesel Tahoe.
does this price include the price of DEF ? the cost per mile is way higher

not everyone can buy from a DEF pump though
Don't be a hater! I buy my DEF from a Pump. However, I can buy 2.5 gallons for $11.99 in several locations around town. That will last me at least 3000 - 3500 miles. Diesel is way more economical when the diesel vs gas prices are where they "should" be. Towing is a different story on the DEF, but the MPG spread gets alot better in favor of the diesel when towing too... This is my first diesel after 5 gas powered GMC Trucks and Yukons and I am a convert.

I have 21k on my Suburban, at most I have used 4 boxes from Costco (~$15 each), plus two pump fills (~$12 each). That's $84. Round up to $100, that's 0.005c/mile.

Pretending I remembered incorrectly, let's say 8 boxes, $150 total, that's 0.007c/mile.

My lifetime MPG is ~24+. So for every gallon of diesel, I have spent maximum 0.17c extra. More likely less than 0.12c/gal extra.

I guess "way higher" is subject to personal perspective, but 0.12c/gal is not terribly significant to me.

Edit: I should add that at 21k miles, I have a full tank of DEF, so in reality it probably took less than $70 in DEF to get me to 21k: 0.08/gal.

Don't forget the penny per mile cost for the wet oil pump belt "service job" required at 150,000 miles on our Duromax SUV's that our gasser SUV's don't have

** GM says it's a 7 hour job plus parts and shop supplies, so I'd guess +/- $1500 at a GM dealer.

Well, that belt life has been extended to 200K miles and 99% of Dmax owners won't keep them that long. I will save far more on fuel and not have the constant worry in the back of my mind if and when a lifter will implode, or an injector takes a dump while I'm on a 1500-mile trip with my family. I also don't have to worry about stations being out of fuel when the next hurricane comes along in SWFL. Unless you've lived it, you wouldn't understand it...

extended to 200,000 on the newer 2024 SUV's duromax engine (2023 in Silverado Sierra) not the duromax in our 2023's and earlier SUV's

It won't make much difference. It's the same belt. The engines are largely the same except for a few nuanced differences.

When the transmission comes out for service you can do the belt then. 10 speeds are much more reliable then the 4,6, and 8 speeds but I doubt they last 150k+ miles none of its predecessors have typically.

Same part, different motors.. GM Authority published something recently about the wet oil pump belt replacement being pushed out to 200,000 on the LZ0 motor and 150,000 on the LM2.

Regardless, I don't care. My LM2 HC suburban is a zero-expense (to me) company car, so maybe for giggles I have mine replaced every 50k miles, LOL

Price of diesel in NYC depends HEAVILY on where you buy it, anywhere from 3.75 by JFK airport, to 5.49 in Manhattan.
Too bad the GMT800 SUVs didn't come with a turbodiesel option.
