So in the mornings my truck takes a couple times to turn over before it actually fires. I have to prime the system a couple times. Can't hear the fuel pump unless your at the back of the truck listening for it. Changed fuel filter last summer.

Any ideas? I'm being told it is probably the fuel pump. Bought a fuel pressure guage, but I have to buy some teflon tape before I can use it.

HELP!

Fuel pump whine gets louder then it just dies. When mighn went it just went. It didn't delay start ups or anything, if it works it works. Must be something else, no codes?

fuel pump

I changed my fuel pump and filter at about 130,000 mi. I would have to prime the system or it might take 3 to 5 seconds of cranking to start. All of my other Tahoe's fired right up. So i changed the fuel pump and filter and it didn't help. I changed the injection spider under the intake and it didn't help either. I have done a tune up, 50,000 volt coil, MSD 10mm wires, ect.. and nothing helps. If you figure it out, please let me know.

I am in the same boat...new crate motor, new spider, new fuel filter, full tune up, and the fuel pump was replaced 15,000 miles ago....sometimes she starts right up, others its a 10 second crank...no codes.

i feel like i've heard somwhere that the fuel check valve, that keeps fuel pressure in the lines when the truck is not running, goes bad alot in older trucks and then it takes a few cranks to start unless you let the pump run for a little bit, dont quote me on that though i could be completly wrong but its an idea

My issue is where the heck is the check valve... I have new everything (fuel spider, pressure regulator, filter, etc)

I had a 99 for a while that did exactly as the original post states and eventually my fuel pump completely died...

mine does it every once in awhile. figure it's just an injector leakin down overnight since i haven't done the upgraded spider. fuel pump was replaced last year.

one of these days i'll think about throwing the guage on it before i start it to see what it says.

Sounds exactly like what my 99 Denali that we used to have did. Is an easy fix unless you're at full tank and that thing is friggin heavy! :D

lol actually that was the part that sucked I just filled the tank up drove a few miles parked it and then went to leave and it wouldn't start so it took a few people to help drop the tank

great, I hate the idea of replacing the pump again. GM charged me $550 to do the last one 2 years ago! (had 3/4 tank of gas and no way to lift it high enough to drop the tank)
