I just bought a 05 Tahoe in pretty good shape. I suspected it might have had a fender bender because the right side front bumper sags about an inch down but the other side seems fine though. Doing a little googling, I see it's kind of a common problem. Does anyone know the reason why this happens and is there a recommended fix?

One guy was putting scrap 2x4 on a hydraulic lift and jacking the bumper back into place. Another was using a long threaded rod to get it pulled up from the bottom of the valance to the body. Any thoughts on that?

If you look underneath there are brackets that you can loosen and use that 2x4 on top of the floor lift jack to push up and then re-tighten the brackets. If it was in an accident then it may be twisted and then need replaced. If so, I did replace mine, you can get a new one at Amazon for about $250 if I remember.

Thank you for your reply. I'll look under there tonight! I might be able to find them at the junkyard or something too.

I know this is an older post and has had its answers but when I purchased my Tahoe and it had a little sag on the passenger side. I went and took off the front bumper and out of the 4 piece crowbar set you can get from Harbor Freight I used the longest one, putting it between the main frame and the bumper bracket where it bolts on. I then lifted up applying pressure on the bumper bracket itself and to my surprise the metal was flexible enough that I was able to get it to lift back up into place.

Welcome to the forum from Oregon

We recommend that you put all your rig(s) info in your signature so we all don’t have to guess at year, make, model, engine size, trans, rear axle locker…….etc. While you may have posted pertinent info in your first post, you may forget to do it again and the info is needed by us anyway. Makes it way easier on all members that attempt to help, to have that info right up front. It is also recommended that you take a pic of your RPO codes, on the inside cover of the glove box, and post that image in your signature. All this info will greatly help those that will try to help with a problem.

If there is any other info, like upgrades, mods or recent mechanical/maintenance work done, that would be helpful in any post as well. Too many times a question is asked by the poster and after about 10 responses we find out that the poster has done recent work to attempt to fix the problem or work that was done that SEEMS not related to the problem.

Replaced and adjusted. If the bumper is fine, mine wasn't, the adjustment is easy IMO. The install of a new one is a PITA depending on the hangover you may have from the night before.
