anyone know if it is possible to cut the flashing lights off when the hatch opens and closes 22 Tahoe RST. It gets annoying when trying to get out going hunting

Not sure if you can disable a safety feature.
How in da hot sex does flashing the lights when I DON'T want to give away my position, qualify as a safety feature?
I can easily imagine situations where flashing lights could get someone killed, intentionally or otherwise.

The safety feature would be, if 'my' vehicle does what I want it to do, when I want it to,
AND
does not do anything I do not want it to do, when I don't want it to, except as above.

Safety feature, my @$$.

I think that the PPV's have a combination of BCM Programing and wiring to enable "surveillance" mode which will disable automatic lights.

Pull the taillight fuse. Reinstall when done hunting.
Thanks, GM, for keeping me safe? This makes no sense.

Philosophically, there's something VERY wrong going on here,
and I bet it doesn't stop at my tail lights being forced to flash against my will ...

The safety part is simply to let someone know the rear is about to open if you’re inside the car or using the remote to open it. Agreed it’s overkill but that’s where we are.

At least it doesn't also beep. My brother's Dodge minivan continuously beeps while the liftgate is opening/closing

Makes me wonder if the BCM can be reprogrammed, so that the car will behave like it's 1989 ...
The overkill is, in its own way, profoundly insulting.
