Can a fan clutch fail in the engaged position and stay that way? The fan on my 6.0 2500 Suburban never slows down( always rev matched)

I just replaced it in August.

the fan clutch should spin by hand with a little bit of resistance, if it's not doing that then it might be a issue if it feels really tight or spins loosely, if your unsure take it by a mechanic he's not going to charge you anything to just use his judgment and recommend.

The lock up of the fan clutch happens when it gets hot enough and then as it cools down the free wheeling spin, with some resistance, takes place. If it stays locked up, it needs replaced. I would also want to be sure there is good air flow across the radiator and good coolant flow inside the radiator. make sure there is no belt slippage as well. Is your thermostat working well?
