Engine oil cooler line removal question

Can these lines be replaced without lifting the motor on the 4WD models? I have the lines loose, front driveshaft out, but the metal hold down bracket seems to want to fight around the front diff.

Maybe loosen the front diff and lower slightly?

What are the success stories?

That is the ticket. It requires dropping the front diff lower. There are videos at you tube showing this.

I did watch, found a few 2WD vids which don't fully help. I removed the front driveshaft and loosened the front diff. The lines came out but was a little tight around the electrical connections...all is good.

I figured this out in 2003 when they changed the design. A senior tech at the dealership was cussing out the service writer about the BS design (he mainly did electrical issues). I walked over with a couple sockets, my impact, and dropped the front diff for him in front of the service writer in less than 5 minutes. Then I showed how to snake them in. SUPER simple - 4 bolts and 12 axle bolts. Viola! All the room of a 2wd truck. Money maker!

Luckily I only needed to lower the front diff a little, down to the frame. I left the axles attached, loosened the RH bolts about half way, then removed one LH bolt and left the 2nd bolt threaded about 2 turns to ease reassembly,

Was a little tight, but doable.

I changed my oil lines yesterday on my 2011 SSV 4X4. I did not have to remove the differential like someone said. It threads through comming out torward the back and in torward the front. I seperatded my front driveshaft- 4 bolts and esily slides out of the way. I left my oil filter out- really good call. It threads through with alot of paitience, be prepared for that. I started at 11am and was done by 4pm working casually on a Saturday and loving every minute of it.

Did mine without dropping diff or driveshaft. (engine cooler & transmission cooler lines)

I bent the old trans cooler lines to radiator when removing them, but was able to snake the new lines in..
(I might have just been impatient whilst removing them..)

You do not need to lift the motor.

No sir. I pulled off my skidplate in the front, I have a boarder patrol truck. If you pull off your bumper or skid plate it makes it alot easier.

Agreed.

For me, I was in a snag removing the lines ..maybe I just couldn't see where the lines were hanging up but loosening the diff to let it hang a little but not removing it, or the half shafts, that game me the room to get the lines out and back in.
