Engine Noise

Welp got a nice ticking noise on the top of the engine I think. Is the his the dreaded lifter tick? Anything to do besides major overhaul? Change to 5W30?

Year, make and model?

Engine version/size L83/L84 5.3l or L86/L87 6.2l?

Mileage?

How has it been maintained? Are you the original owner?

Have you checked the oil level recently? If not, do so and make sure the oil level is full.

Have you smelled the oil for fuel contamination?

While lifters can be a problem, there are other possibilities such as exhaust leaks, high pressure fuel pump, injector or other.

Has anyone with repair experience looked at the vehicle and given an opinion?

2016 5.3 LTZ 116k.2nd owner at 112k Recently did new plugs and wires. Maintenance history seemed diligent. Changed oil about 2500 mile ago full synth 0W20. Oil level good. Gonna take it to shop asap. Here’s a vid
