Never considered looking at a used vehicle's use prior to purchase using this method. Is it even relative? The higher average speed the more highway miles? less idling in traffic, fewer shifts?

We just finished another, 1300 mile loop in our 08 denali xl awd with 130k on the odometer. I purchased it about 7 months ago and as previously stated this is the most comfortable road trip vehicle we have ever owned, Even better than our $103,000 03' S-500!

So anyway i was just wondering if i could get some more "miles vs engine hours equals average mph".

Our number's are 130,550 miles divided by 3,692 engine hours equalling and average speed of 35.35.

am i doing the math correctly?

Write those hours down, when my little one drained the battery on me several months ago, the hour meter reset itself. Luckily, it is written down for record keeping but even still must have been reset before or it's average mph would have been like 80!

My truck's 13 month average is 26 mph.

Bought it with 81,000 miles at 82,000 miles I installed the DIC buttons "Driver information center" and right away checked the engine hours and it showed 530 hours.

Not sure how that is even possible.

It was reset, either purposely or because of an electrical glitch like a dead battery.

Maybe the engine was replaced at some point?

On my vehicles, hours vs miles generally tends to work out to an average of 30-35 mph.

My Taurus, which idles a lot, and sees a lot of local driving, is the lowest at 29.6. My Suburban, which is used primarily for road trips and sees the highest percentage of highway miles, is the highest at 35.9 mph. Probably also reflects my proclivity towards exceeding the speed limits when on long road trips. I've done hours at a time at an average speed of 90+.
