Yeah E85...
Higher Octane
You can run more timing, with less detonation, you can make more power!
I don't run in my Tahoe though....too hard to find.
Run it in my BigHP cars though....E85 and E98 when I can find it....and its cheap. I love E98 and its so cheap.

Yeah? Forged LS3? Aluminum Block? Big Heads?
I thought you would go for the Iron...less block flex under heavy boost.
How much boost are you going to push? and Meth? or just E85?
What about the TRX? You going to be flip that off too?

Starting with an iron block 6.0 (gen4) going to the machine shop, getting punched out to a 6.2, forged/balanced rotating assembly, ring gapped for boost and a stage 3 blower cam. I have 823 Rec port heads that came with the motor, I will get those done, LS3 valves, BTR .660 springs.

Planning on about 15# of boost, 93/E85 with meth.

OMG.....
Iron LS3? You don't think the walls are too thin for boost? I've done it without boost but never with.

Have you considered just staying 6.0 and running more boost? F1A Baby! 24lbs!

Or.....Sleeve the block and run 427 pistons....388! That would be the BOMB!

I have already talked to the machine shop. There is plenty of meat in the iron block, we actually discussed going to 6.4, but getting 6.2 forged pistons and rods will be friendly to my budget. I can spend that extra money on the heads and fuel system.

Don't yell at me if this is stupid but is anyone running E85 on a fairly stock tahoe? If so, any perks or drawbacks?

I just paid 3.31 cents for E85 on the way home after I installed my headlights (in a different thread). There is only one gas station that has it near me. So i only run it maybe once a month or once every 2 months. Now my hoe is far from stock but she is way more responsive and gets on down when she is burning it. Granted I don't like how she idles on E85. I say it's like back in the old days when u went to Autozone and got octane booster for the weekend. It's like crack for my truck.

I filled up on Tuesday at $2.49/gal for E85 here in SoCal. Compared to $5.70/reg and $6.10 for premium, I gladly take the 2 to 3mpg loss from E85 vs gas. Lower tailpipe emissions are a bonus.

At those prices, it does offset the decreased mileage. But here in illinois, e85 is only about 50 to 60 cents cheaper. Thus not offsetting the mpg loss.

i am sure the corn cleans better than the standard fuel, i wouldnt see a need to switch. i will be mathing soon to see if it will be a better financial choice for daliy now that fuel prices have gone back up. in my grand prix being supercharged the cost from premium to e85 is a no brainer.
