Depending on the dog's ability, sometimes a ramp is easier for them. I think they may make some that fold in half.
And it depends on the individual dog. Our oldest had zero issues with steps, while our middle one avoided them going in and out, like the plague. Given that our current crew are fairly young, we'll try the accordion one first. Drape a towel over the steps to cover up the openings, if necessary. Then go from there.
